Free LifeDrive -- giving mine away

As it says. I don't use my LifeDrive anymore. I have a license for PowerDrive which I'd be happy to transfer if possible. I just tried to turn it on and it didn't start. I don't remember how to do a hard reset, but imagine it should work with some coaxing. Digitizer and parts are all good. Inside is the original MicroDrive (no idea where my 4G CF card went, I sure would like to find it).

You cover shipping and I'll put it in a box and send it to you. I don't believe I have the sync cable anymore but I can check if you need it. I do have in front of me the power adapter and the lifedrive itself.

Cheers,
Marc in Hong Kong

How would I pay for shipping? What would be the amount?

Thumbs up

I'd gladly take it off your hands.. I have a lifedrive with a dead motherboard, so this would make things easy for me to get back up and running. I plan on resurrecting KDE's KPilot sync tool, and having another device to test with would be much appreciated. PM me if you're interested.

Shipping payment thru PayPal (or similar) after I ship it and get the actual price. I estimate that it would be $10 USD but it could be as much as $20. I don't send hardware too often

In the interest of fairness I'll give the first responder a day to claim it, after that, phreakonaleash, it's yours.

I do not want to offend anybody but I was the first responder as I sent you private message long before phreakonaleash sent his post.

Of course, it's your decision to whom you will send it.

Hey, sorry about that -- I didn't check my PMs. I figured I'd get some kind of notification if somebody sent me something.

Anyway, I can confirm killinghawk did respond first so I'll send it his way Thanks all for your interest, I'm glad I don't have to just throw away this lovely gadget.

Maybe I should offer my TX based on need? (of course free but the people need to pay for shipping.

Dymitry would get top priority and then I would ask on a sliding scale of need (via private message) what other priority reason for a person to have my working lifedrive (which still works ) here at this forum.

The other people who have benefited from my "free" palm devices might not qualify for another freebie....but I will answer back in a week on what generally are good reasons to grace someone with a TX....

Collectors of TX are not wanted to ask for my TX. If a person shows that they use a Palm device is a good reason.

I suppose based on the contributions to 1src would also matter greatly and If the person lives in Los Angeles that would be another big factor.

I will offer an update probably in a week. Repeat messages will disqualify a candidate.
----------------
Update: two candidates so far, both seem very nice. I am conflicted in that one candidate is a "newbie" to 1src and would maybe be a new inductee to 1src. I may if there are more candidates make it a lottery done next week.
-----------------------
Big update: My neighbor wants to continue to use my GPS on the lifedrive so I am going to offer my extra TX instead.

Third candidate received and I will end this offer by August. They have all presented a fair situation and I will think of an impartial way to give away my TX. I am thinking that Location would be a priority and the number of posts would give them priority. I am thinking a lottery where locality will give a person an extra chance with an extra random point and the highest submissions to 1src an extra point. Thus a person closest and with more posts would get the higher random chance say since there are three entries the one person who live closest would get an extra draw and the one who posts more gets an extra draw so there would be five random notes in my pot to pick on August. "P" Looks the closest (even though Arizona is not on my favorite list....)

-------------------------------------------
Sorry for the switch but I figured those who entered already would be more than happy to have a TX instead.

Looks like the random drawing for three people was drawn. Mr. P is the winner, so sorry for the other two. I will be sending the package number shortly and payment for shipping when it arrives at Mr. P's place will be expected after arrival...
