I have two Zire 72 palms...one is dead. I ordered a replacement battery but the directions that came show the Zire 71 which is different. Is there anyone who can answer some questions about changing the internal battery in the zire 72 janenebu@neo.rr.com
Just in case anyone else is interested in replacing their zire 72 battery. I found a website with VERY detailed pics. I replaced my battery and am back in business.
here is a link to that site. Replacing palm zire 72 battery with pictures
Thanks, thanks, your post brings hope to my zire 72. I was in the same problem than you and now I believe I'm ready for trying to repair it.
Just a few questions:
- where did you buy the new battery, could you tell me, please? I'm from spain and it's impossible to find one here, so I have been looking for it in different webs but there were so many options and links that didn't look secure... and how much did it cost? because maybe with the transport and all taxes is better to buy a new pda...
- Did you need any special tools? or just the special screwdriver for opening the palm?
- Did you found any unexpected problem during the process?
Well, just giving my thanks to you, because it's the first time I found that solution in a forum, and I have been lookin for it for a long, long time...
I bought the battery from laptopsforless.com It was $39 and shipping was free in the USA. The post I made above has a link to the site with the great pictures of o pening the case. There are hidden screws. That was the tricky part. When I opened the case one of the ribbons inside came apart....but I just slipped it back in its slot and it works fine. I was a little nervous but it went great and my pda works great.
Hope that helps. Good luck.
Oh...the tool that came with it was fine for some of the screws but not the right kind for the hidden screws. I had a teeny tiny screwdriver that I used to fix my glasses and that worked for the other screws.
I discovered a recently posted video showing how to change the Zire 72 battery. It helped my little "surgery" go smoothly and is a vast improvement on the posted written instructions, so I thought I'd share a link: http://www.newpower99.com/ProductDe...72&Show=ExtInfo
