| Thanks for responding so promptly Eva-01!
Just let me know how you want me to go about paying you when you've completed the project!
By the way... I am now able to see he pictures! I can't explain why I couldn't see them earlier but all is ggod now! The Prism looks great!
Keep me posted!

| Sounds good Eva-01...
I already have a payPal account so that's perfect!
Thanks for making the Speaker Installation procedure so easy! It's not that I doubt my ability to perform the task... it just that I don't want anything to go wrong that will prevent me from utlizing my Prism!
Looking forward to tomorrow's posting!

| Hey Eva-01....
I was wondering if you could do me a favor!
I'm excited about the Prism and its capabilities and was wondering if you had time to list everything it will be able to do.
Will it still be able to charge the UX50 and The Extended Battery? Does it have a volume control knob? Will ew be able to plug other units (Ipods, MP3 Players, etc) into it? Ext....
Thanks Eav-01! I realize that the design changed and perhaps maybe some of the things that you intended for it to be able to do might have changed also!

| Hey Gman
I've got some bad news for you , while testing the completed circuit yesterday, i found it produced some really bad distorted noise and did not play the music correctly at all, and i don't really know where its coming from as i had tested the circuit earlier in the build before i added the usb/sony connectors and other little ancillary bits - and the bl00dy volume control doesn't work - it should work dammit, i wired it up right - i'm really p%*s$d off
This circuit was for myself and i was going to solder one for you tomorrow but it seems that unless i can solve this problem quickly, it seems that you will have to wait till next year to get your hands on it if your still interested that is.
Oh and to answer your questions the PRISM is able to charge both the UX and extended battery, it does have a volume control knob, if you look back on the pics i've uploaded you'll see it (its the knob on the front of the PRISM)
You will be able to plug in other stuff (ipod, psp, ect) obviously it may not fit in the place where the ux is but there is an input on the back of the PRISM to accept the audio from other devices and a switch to choose what you want to be played out from the PRISM - there is also an output and switch so you can output the amplified audio to other equipment i.e. bigger sound system/ other speakers - it also has a usb socket which outputs 5v so you can use it to recharge your ipod/psp while they are being used
But right now i'm trying to figure out the cause of the f*$£#d audio
I am not a happy bunny right now - it looks like i'm gonna have to go right back and test every bit of the circuit separately
P.s. i hope you didn't order the speakers just yet, other wise you'll have to hold onto them until the new year - sorry gman
I will continue to give you all heads up on the progress - well at least this gives me time to write up a instruction booklet and some nice packaging for it
P.p.s sorry for all the profanity

| That's Okay Eva-01... it's alright to vent!
I'm definitely still interested in the Prism! You take your time. I'll be ready to place my order as soon as you get everything operating in peek fashion!
If you need to step away for awhile do so... enjoy time with your brother and the rest of the family! We all are supporting you and although we aren't in a position to offer our help physically... I'm sure we all have went thru the same type of experiences and offer our support in spirit!
Keep your head up! I'm sure you will find the problem!

| Thanks for understanding gman - i didn't realise how angry i was after reading post again
Anyway, i still havn't managed to sort out the problem - it looks like i'm going ot have to make another test circuit from scratch and add things on one at a time to find out where the noise and interference is coming from - i think it's coming from the switching of audio input and output and some grounding issues - it also gives me a chance to improve the layout of the circuit board and use more flexible wires for the switches as they are quite difficult to get in and mount inside the PRISM.
I took a break from working on it as you suggested and will get back to it soon - i've made a mould for one of the parts and will make some more later in the week - i will need to buy more rubber as i don't have enough
That's about it, i'll post some more pics later in the week

| After a break from working on the PRISM i thought i would get back to it and get the casing done or at least make a start on it and so far i have made plastic replicas of the bottom casing and the circuit board holder which you'll see in the pics below. Ive still got to refine the main casing of the PRISM as the contacts for the ux charging need to be moved slightly and other little refinements.
So i have made the rubber moulds for two of the three parts and had my first attempt at making plastic copies and they turned out OK
That is the Lego jig for the silicon rubber before i poured it
And those are pics of the rubber moulds after they had time to cure - they turned out well but i damaged my wooden original PRISM base while taking it out of the mould
As you can see it broke in half and one of the bass ports also broke
BUT i did manage to get these plastic replicas from the mould
Unfortunately the plastic replica also broke, i took it out of the mould to soon and wasn't really taking care with handling it - i may have come across another issue which may cause me problems with fitting the parts - the plastic replicas as slightly smaller in dimension than the original wood PRISM - its only a couple of millimeters over the whole length but it might cause problems - I'm hoping it doesn't
And the last pic i have is of all the resin, rubber, ect that i have used
I will post up a picture of all the other supplies i have bought to make this thing to show just how much crap i have collected and subsequently money spent - i'm sooo broke
Anyway talking schedules for completion - i'm now thinking end of january for this forever delayed project - if i can sort out the circuit problems over christmas then i should hit that deadline - i will have to wait until after xmas to make the mould for the main part of the PRISM as i have run out of silicon rubber - in the meanwhile i will be refining the casting of plastic replicas, sorting out the circuit and finishing the black ux50 paint job
Have a good holiday everyone

| After a break, i got back to work on the PRISM and i have solved the problem i had, it had to do with the switches controlling the input and output of sound which i didn't do correctly so i got horrendous feedback and well just made lots of noise, but i'm glad to say its fixed now and works perfectly.
So with the next circuit board i solder up i will make a few changes and move things around so that its neater and fits in the dock better.
Well that's about it for now, i will buy some more rubber so i can make a mould of the main casing and solder up a new circuit board and hopefully have some pics up some time next week.
It looks as though i will meet my new deadline of end of january, if all goes to plan

| Did you ever finish these docks Eva? Or did you give up on the UX altogether?
