UX50 and Vista - anybody got it working?

My Sony Vaio laptop just crashed and I got a new HP pavilion dv9260us that has Vista Ultimate. I installed my UX50 software (from the original CD) and when I tried to Hotsync, it is searching for the device driver that can't be found anywhere. I re-downloaded drivers from any possible website, but it's all the same. I also contacted the Sony and they said that all Clies were discontinued in 2004 and they are not going to provide any support for those products.

Am I stuck and do I need to get a new PDA or does anybody have a solution what to do?

I was able to use the latest Palm Desktop/Hotsync software for a PalmIII with a serial cradle on a New Vista PC.

Why don't you try the Palm software instead of trying to shoehorn the Sony clie onto Vista.

I recommend people just stick with Windows XP. Stick it to Microsoft. Vista is not worth it IMHO.

Even one step further, install Kubuntu or openSUSE. If you need windows (in witch you will) use VMWare and hotsync with your WiFi settings.

I have my UX50 working happily with Vista Enterprise. The trick was to find the HotSync installer exe file and run that direct rather than going through the CD install routine. Once that is done you should then be able to install as normal. I think. :S

I have a new tablet pc HP TX1030LA with Windows Vista Home and i could install my UX50 without any problems (even the old thinkdb2 sync its working fine with an access database i have), the drivers are inside <yourpalmdirectory>\USB_driver (i had this folder with all my palm data from my older computers. But because this laptop has a Turion 64 x2 processor i decided to install Vista ultimate x64 and all this happiness just became frustration because vista x64 requires cerficate drivers. 8(

My advice: donīt try this at home... x64 o whatever version of vista 64bits

Well, I have no choice. My old Sony Vaio crashed and I have a new HP laptop with Vista Ultimate, and yes, x64... so I need to figure out (I mean, please, somebody help!!! :-) ) where to get the right drivers or how to HotSync.

Palm Desktop versions 4.1.4e and 4.2 will install on Windows Vista and will synchronize Personal Information Manager (PIM) items including Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Memos.

You can use the internet as much as you like with the UX50 but it has to be either via WiFi or using bluetooth and a cellphone. It does not have any form of built in mobile cellular access.
