| Need browser suggestions for Palm OS I just started trying out a data service on my Palm Treo 680 and I am wondering about browser possibilities that might be better than Blazer. I tried Opera Mini; but, I got couldn't find a toolbar, where I might save bookmarks and got abnormal program terminations when attempting to use any menu item.
Is there anything else worth trying that might work better than Blazer?
To give an idea of my type of usage if that helps, my most visited sites are charter.net web mail, slashdot.org, techguy.org, cnn.com, pcmag.com, pcworld.com and sites like this forum. |

| I have a TX not a Treo but I like Blazer and to my knowledge there is nothing better out there, it just needs some tweeking.
First launch Blazer and go to:
Options>Preferences>General>Fast Mode
Tick: Disable cascading style sheets
I tried those sites you mentioned on my TX and they seemed to load ok, except CNN.
Charter.net is a huge 650k and switching to Narrow View did not help, I could not find a mobile version so you may want to email them and ask to move into the future, today
Here are the results. Charter.net http://charter.net/index.php
Use Fast Mode (Lightning bolt icon on TopBar) Slashdot.org http://slasdot.org/
Use Fast Mode Techguy.org http://techguy.org/
Use Fast Mode or Normal Mode Cnn.com http://cnn.com/
Don't know, I got the message:
"...service not available in your region..." Pcmag.com http://mobile.pcmag.com/device/
Use Fast Mode or Normal Mode Pcworld.com http://mobile.pcworld.com/device/index.php
Use Fast Mode or Normal Mode

| Well, there are others you could try and see... I find that I always use either Blazer or Picsel Browser nowadays. The following browsers work best on the T|X (the other options aren't at all worth considering, as they only contain a subset of the features of one of these):
Blazer/Web
Picsel Browser (with patches)
NetFront 3.1 (with patches)
Opera

| Before throwing browsers out there, you should stop and look at what device this is.
Treo 680.
Picsel Browser with patches - causes immediate resets - may result in a hard reset. Not usable.
Netfront - The core of Blazer - causes immediate resets - may result in hard reset. Not usable.
Opera Mini
Universe
Xiino
Those are the only 3 known working alternatives.

| Yup... sorry, I misread that as TX for some reason. Opera Mini, Universe, and Xiino are the options. Xiino doesn't do anything that the others don't, and Universe is a bit unwieldy on a small screen, but can still do the job. I'd say your only real option to Blazer is Opera Mini.

| Xiino has many advantages over Blazer, mostly the instantaneous cache, but no javascript, it can also be launched over blazer with accessorizor.
unfortunately it doesn't work with virgin.co.uk. - am downloading pixcel now by torrent - to try on a 650.

| I guess you don't want to use a service like MobileLeap ? http://mlvb.net/?

| I'll give that a try. So far, it displays slashdot.org without a 'page too large' error I've been getting with Blazer alone. |

| I use universe almost exclusively on the TX and love it, but I don't know how it will look on the screen of the treo. |

Can you PM me the universe .prc file? I've been looking for it without being able to find it.
Thanks.
