With people wondering why Palm did not take the Android OS and use that, Palm has showed the people why today with their new operating system, webOS.

| RE: Back-Portability Palm's Blog indicates that there will be a number of avenues to transform pdb's to the webOS. So my guess is that there will be no Garnet emulator on the Pre. old apps will be ported over and users data will be transferable through importing or some type of synching. |

I hope so...at the very least!
Will our key developers, like those here on 1src, and freewarepalmapp really want to re-write all or some of their apps. Dmitry has already said no way!
The sheer diversity and usefulness of applications developed since Palm OS 3.5 just can't be abandoned, can they? |

Well, I don't know...
How many people scream for DOS emulation in Windows? Does anyone still use apps written for Windows 3.1 on XP or Vista?
I know some do, but my guess is not many. The average person just doesn't care. Because not many people load extra apps.
I do believe though that the Apple Store has forever changed the way most people view apps, by making them cheap and easy to load. Hopefully Palm's app store will enjoy similar success...
Most of the apps I loved on my early Palms have either been updated or have analogs on other platforms. Sometimes they end up better, like Scrabble on the Touch as compared with Palm.
Palm's adherence to legacy apps has been admirable and useful, but has also been an anchor around their corporate neck. I want Palm to LEAPFROG the competition, not be the same old, conservative company it's been. I'm willing to cut ties with the past, if it will get me a better future.
Tony
