What is the Best Alternative to Palm Desktop on a Tux?

Hi Palm People!

it's been over a year since the last post in this Forum so i thought that it would be a good time to ask: What would be the best Palm Desktop Alternative in Linux?

Currently, am into Ubuntu and Jpilot is the one. I have a few gripes with this though because I can't seem to figure out how to sync the PIM's to any mail clients and a few other things.

In creating new Calendar entries with jpilot, there is no way to set the category. It would always place them in the unfiled cat.

any suggestions?

ps I also wonder if there are any Ubuntu - Palm users here.. :-)

Hi. I've been using Kubuntu for the better part of a year, now. Spent a lot of time with (Open)SuSE, with KDE, Mandrake, and Red Hat (starting back at RH 5.2).

You may want to peek at this, syncing with Evolution -

Gentoo is also Debian based.

I used to sync with jPilot, and I synced with KPilot a couple of times, but don't found a need anymore (automatic backups and such). Since I'm such a Palm addict, my Treo usually isn't far from me...

Remember, Google is your friend (but still watch over your shoulder)...

HTH,

I would suggestKontact. It is easy to set up and works very well with email and PIM.
I found it to be easier to set up than jpilot due to a rather simple set up wizard.

Evolution is probably what you want. It's full-featured, pretty much the same thing as Outlook for Linux. I tried it, but went back to JPilot because I need the Keyring plugin, which Evolution doesn't support. I also don't need the email client, so JPilot works fine for me, but if you don't need Keyring syncing and do need email, then Evolution is probably what you're looking for.
