| Lucky me I guess... I just bought one TH-55 E2 in mint conditions, hardly used, 1GB Sony MStick, two leather cases (Senna and PDAir) plus all original accessories (box included) by... yes, $170!...
But I must say I had been looking for a few months for one and never found it cheap...

| Even though the Th55 is several years old still the best looking PDA along with the UX50. Imagine if Sony has develop a Treo like device, it is very exciting to see how it will look like. |

| Hi,
If Sony had done or does that, I would call for a boycott of Sony.
I find myself getting sick at the very idea.
Sony making anything resembling a Treo would be a step backwards, even being out of the pda business for the last four years.
It would be like asking Mecedes Benz to make a Ford Escort like car.

Imagine if they can incorporate the features of the Clie on the Treo, I think it would be a hit. Sony has a habit of making very advance and expensive devices which prevented it from making a significant number of sales, which I believed has put them out of the business.
I would not believe that it will be a step backward if Sony produces a QWERTY like Treo device. Look at the way they designed the UX50 and the TH55. Those 2 devices where the most advance pda during their time and I can say that Sony has the creative portfolio in making a very good QWERTY Treo like device that can rival anything we can see on the market. |

Well, Sony did not go out of business.
Playstation 3, PSP anyone?
They shifted the focus to ways of marketing the content they bought when they bought MGM, and combined with Sony Pictures.
No way they could do that using the Clie, hence the PSP and Playstation 3.
I think they saw the OS was something that was not going to allow them the control they needed and they bowed out.
The idea of combining the Treo, in any way, to the Clie, is blasphemous.
The need here, at 1src, to try and prop up Palm when they are unable to do so themselves, is rather sad.

I think about this about once a week. If Sony had continued developing the PDA, it would have taken one or two software cycles and their Clie Organizer PIMs would have been the best, even today. If they attached a radio, wow.
Probably some higher ups in Sony saw diminishing returns for the Clie PDA. That was good forecasting. But better forecasting would have been to foresee the smartphone, and keep those PDA hardware and software engineers together doing exactly what they were doing, waiting for the moment in time to slap on a cellular radio. Sony's rep for quality hardware would have been maintained due to this one device. Resets today on almost all WM and Palm smartphones are common. They would be virtually unknown with the Sony, enough to have consumers think "Sony = quality." |
