| Games and Multi-button pressing with the lifedrive Someone in the "report a bug" thread said that he is not able to push more than one button at the same time. I use my Clie a lot for games and a big factor for me in upgrading to a LD is the ability to play games. I can't imagine that palm would be stupid enough to make their "mobile manager" without the ability to press two buttons at one time. Can anyone clarify whether this is just that individual's LD or all of them? |

| Can someone please confirm that this is a problem on ALL lifedrives and not just a few defective ones? Does this happen with all games or only emulators??? Is anyone else having this problem? |

| Sounds like Ez's problem is a software problem with the particular emulator he is using and not a hardware problem. If anyone else has a lifedrive and can comment, that would be great. |

| Hmmmmm... I am using LJP LittleJohn PalmOS (Free SNES NES GB GG GBC ect Emulator)
Maybe the other one is coded to run that way? If not, I asked Shark about it last night and he said he thinks P1 made them that way... Maybe not, who knows? They are adding support for it now though, or at least Tinnus has acknowledged the problem and posted it for (Possible?) fixing.

| That is BAD news. I was really looking foward to being able to use NESem and other emulators to play games on the lifedrive. Has anyone else used this with regular games (non-emulators) and successfully been able to press two buttons at once? I would really be interested in feedback from other users! |

| I've tried a demo unit at my local cUSA. I found that when i tried Bike or Die, the left and right on the dpad don't work. I double checked, they are mapped correctly. The left and right work fine when navigating the OS and with the builtin apps.
I tried playing Mappy, couldn't press 2 PIM buttons at once (running while opening a door). I'd say try DL-ing some freeware N.I. Games. Some of his action games will get u to move with one button while pressing the action button (jump, shoot) with the other at the same time.
A LD owner on PIC emailed P1 about this and this is how they responded:
" Thank you for contacting palmOne Technical Support. My name is Marvin and I will be assisting you with regard to your query. I understand that the LifeDrive™ does not allow multiple simultaneous button presses since it makes playing any action game almost impossible for you.
The LifeDrive has 4GB internal drive. Because of this, the Processor will surely slowdown specially when it is reading data. It goes also like in case if you are playing an action game. When it displays the application, the processor ‘reads’ the software. If you were using the hardware buttons, the processor would also process the presses. In this case, slowing down is mostly to occur. Other palmOne handhelds can support multiple simultaneous button presses because these process smaller RAM s only but not for LifeDrive that processes huge capacity of information.
We hope this issue has been resolved to your satisfaction. A Customer Satisfaction Survey will be emailed to you very shortly. Please take time to provide us with your feedback about this support experience, as it will help us in our on-going effort to continually improve our services.
"
I hear some bad rap about Dell tech support from friends and family. It's amusing at least to watch both P1 and Dell tech support go down the drain and to see who can outdo the other. |

| For the love of god...
And I cant stop getting crap loads of errors using LJP talking about how i am running out of memory and line manager errors and tons of crap which all result in a long wait time for a reset...
in terms of games, this thing is BEAT.
Too bad, it had amazing potential (You could store entire game libraries for lots of systems)

That's sad, you're making the LD sound worse than the TH55 for games!
(I know that isn't physically possible, but hey... )
I must say, playing games on the Zod compared to the TH is like a new universe! |
