Question Screen Orientation of UX

All of the pictures I've seen of the UX50 show the screen with a landscape orientation. Can it be switched to portrait for the more classic PDA look, or is landscape the only option?

good to know

That's good to hear. I'm leaning more and more towards the UX50, but I wasn't quite ready to switch to an entirely landscape oriented handheld. For web sites that makes a lot of sense, but for some of my regular day-to-day stuff I'd just as soon use it the old way.

Unhappy spoke too soon

Well, in continuing to look through the different threads, it seems many are saying the UX doesn't support portrait mode after all. That's a shame.

Give it time, whether it will always be app dependant or not is too early to tell.

portrait update?

Is the landscape mode in the UX50 something that is hardwired? Or is it possible that Sony could release a patch that would allow portrait to be used as well? Or even a third party hack that would allow it?

Graffiti (2) is available on the UX, it is on the right side of the screen. And it doesn't look like it has lefty support.

PS: DON'T SHOUT.

Shouldn't this not be an issue? I think I saw a hack for flipping the screen on a 160x160 Palm before.. what's so hard about rotating the screen so apps behave as if it was an N-series model?

OOH OOH, Mr. Carter, I have one!!!

Will you mail your UX50 to me to use for a couple of days to see if I'd really like it in real world usage?

Sonicboy:

Please post a list as to what applications already support portrait mode. Screen shots of an application in portrait mode would also be awesome (if not asking too much).

I have been reading as much as I can about the UX and thought portrait mode was not possible. This is very good news...

Thanks...
