I have a friend running Windows 7, 64-bit on a new HP system with Intel processor and 6 gigs of RAM. He looks to me for his computer help.
First problem: About half of the contacts in his address book just disappeared, everything after the letter L, if I remember correctly. Since everything still existed on the TX, I simply restored the address book from the TX to the Desktop about ten days ago.
Yesterday, everything in the address book was just totally gone. No synchronizations were done since the one I did ten days ago. Anyway, I again restored everything from the TX to the desktop.
Second Problem: All his appointments are in the calendar on the desktop; but, there is absolutely nothing in the calendar on the TX. So, I set the HotSync to "Desktop overwrites handheld" and synchronized. I tried repeatedly and although the HotSync says the sync was successful, nothing transfers from the calendar on the desktop to the handheld.
The first thing I would do is put NVBackup on the TX and run a backup so there is no more permanent loss of contacts address etc. What kind of hotsync is your friend doing. cable, bluetooth , wifi etc. The 6.2 desktop was written differently so the palm pim applications might not work the best with it. It works much better when syncing to outlook.
As of last month you can cable hotsync with 64bit systems with a 64bit driver from Aceeca. I use the palm desktop version that came with my TX and the Aceeca driver. On a windows 7 64bit system. http://forums.palm.com/t5/Windows-H...orp/td-p/337516
Sync works fine for everything but Calendar. We are both using Palm Desktop 6.2 and both synchronizing via bluetooth and mine works fine. The only significant difference with our machines is his is 64-bit and mine, 32-.
Several people have had problems with the PIMs not working on 64bit 7 with the Palm 6.2 desktop. One or all of the PIMs usually do not install at all. This loosing only part at one time is different. I would try running the desktop software that came with the TX. In case you do not have the disk I will post the link that I got from WreNut. The TX used a 4.2 desktop version written for windows.
