Now that the Palm Australia site is advertising the new Treo 680, that's exciting news for us here too. The Treo could also be here very soon too. The Treo 700p never made it here because it's CDMA and that's being fazed out. I may seriously consider buying one if the price/plans are right!

Only Graphite is $200 everything else is $400. Palm was really sneaky with this.

Don't know about others but I seem to be unable to download this podcast when following the link

Quote:
URL: /podcasts/www.1src.com/podcasts/1srcpodcast103_5_treo680.mp3 Not Found.
Directly using www.1src.com/podcasts/1srcpodcast103_5_treo680.mp3 solves the issue

I checked the properties of the provided link and this is what it shows:
Code:
http://www.podtrac.com/pts/redirect.mp3?http://www.1src.com/podcasts/www.1src.com/podcasts/1srcpodcast103_5_treo680.mp3

I think there is a bit too much www.1src.com/podcasts there

Nice review Alan !

I was already wondering where the DC 'pop' was, it took well into 7 minutes before that was clarified

No sign yet on European carrier releases ? I only see it is listed in unlocked version. I also received a mail from Palm Europe this morning saying I can order for 499EUR (that's about 600 USD !).
A bit expensive I would say ...

Listening to the podcast now...
It's always wonderful news when Palm releases another device with Palm OS installed.

I think I'll stick with my 700p, however.

You are correct, there was an extra www.1src.com/podcasts in the HTML code. I've fixed it and verified that the show will download in iTunes 7.

All right, cool! That just goes to show that you shouldn't operate heavy machinery and web browsers very early in the morning after having had 3 Diet Cokes!

Ya, *only* three. And I'm enjoying a 20oz bottle right now! I'm not twitching so much that you notice. Really.

Great podcast!! I just heard from Palm that they're sending me a Cingular Treo 680 to review I should have it next week, and am looking forward to putting it through the paces. I want to see how it stacks up against my 700p I've read on Treocentral from users who already have them, that the blazer lag is gone. I have the lag on my 700p, so it'll be interesting to see if and when Palm will finally release a firmware upgrade for the 700p.

Great! Thanks for doing this Jimmie. I'm really curious to see how the 680 performance (lag, Blazer lag, Pocket Tunes skipping with Chatter installed, etc.) compares with the 700P.

Think the 'cast should have been numbered 103 dot 680.

Great job, go easy on the DC's. Don't want you to have to go to the grocery store for more today (where it's just like Black Friday).
