I decided the Zire 72s looked cooler than my blue 72 (especially since all my friends have either a Tungsten or an iPAQ) so I scraped all my paint off.
I found that if you're prepared to risk it, a little cleaning fluid (eg meths) will get the gunk off. Just don't get that near the screen
