Hi,
I found a system update for the SJ33 at :
Update
and since there was no specific instructions on the page I figured it was a minor update for all SJ33... I installed it and THEN I got curious as to what had been updated

. So I did a search for the update's file name (sysupdatesj33.prc) and found another page offering the download but with instructions this time:
Update with instructions
The instructions warn in red that one should not apply the update on SJ33's bought outside the US. It also said (in red again) that one should soft reset the clie before installing the update.
I'm in Canada and I didn't soft reset the Clie.
My Clie seems fine but I am wondering if I should attempt to uninstall the update... Primarily because of the fact that my Clie wasn't bought in the US (the model number is PEG-SJ33/U and not PEG-SJ33 as indicated in the instructions (in red again)) and therefore might not need the update. The update may also conflict with another file that already was on my Clie. I'm not too worried about the lack of soft reset, I figure it's probably mostly preventive, in case the system was mildly corrupted before the update.
The instructions point to 2 files in order to verify that the install was completed successfully, those two files seem to be deletable.
After I installed the update I was asked to soft reset the Clie, which I did. The update triggered another soft reset by itself, which makes me believe that it updated the ROM... which is not good if I want to go back...
So my questions at this point are :
Anyone know more about this update ?
Should I attempt to remove the update ?
Did the update change the content of the ROM ?
Would a hard reset clear the whole thing ? even if the ROM has changed ?
Suggestions for my next move ?
Thanks for the help !
