Wouldn't sell as well. The battery life would be horrible unless it was a made noticeably thicker, plus it would have to cost a lot more.

Maybe when OLED prices and reliability get better...

Well (knock on wood)... my TJ35 is 5 weeks old and the backlight still seem OK so far. Turns on and off by holding the power switch down for 4 seconds.
