Did you try to scan for APs? Was it able to detect your linksys?

Try deleting the original "trusted networks" in your preference and do a fresh connection with your Router.

No, the ux can never be powered through its usb port. It uses a 5 pin mini usb. The only way to power it through usb is to modify the cradle or the extended battery which someone actually did it...
