Does it even mount? Are you trying it out in the office? If you are, if you have a drive F network drive, disconnect it. Your flash drive should immediately kick in and mount to F. |
i can see it .. G: it mounts .. i can't access it .. i can't format it .. i can't copy .. cut .. paste .. can't even go to the G: drive .. but i see the drive .. |
Are you in Windows NT, 2000, XP, or 2003? If so, right click 'My Computer', click 'Manage', then 'Disk Management', and attempt to revive your drive there. If it's not there, check the Removable Storage area. |

sounds similar to what we have had at work.... do other USB drives work? |
zackepceo - i'm using window xp .. and i did that before .. i could see the drive and i saw "no media" .. i couldn't see the size of the usb .. samcat - yea .. other usb working good .. |
we have several usb drives that only work on some copies of windows. I do not know what gets corrupted, but it will work on my desk, but not on anything from the Vision Lab. What is worse is we rarely install a copy of Windows, we clone working systems. Everyone thinks I am a bit of a pushy so-and-so because unless everything is working perfect, I don't clone. And yes other drives work fine. Everyone can see my seagate USB drive and my Lexar drive, but not the Kangaru drive, any Kangaru drive (and work bought about a dozen). My department started inheriting those drives when they don't work for anyone else, for some reason me being an pushy so-and-so has meant most of our computers work (some stopped). I have yet to find out exactly what happens. A rebuild of the windows seems to work well, those drives become usable again. Though that is a bit of an overkill. Still I have searched and found no way to replace or refresh the USB driver that is in Windows XP. If you can check it on any other machine to make sure it is not something wrong with the drive. I am a big one on commonality. A single test tells you something is wrong, but cannot tell you what. If you test the drive on 3 computers and all three show the same problem with the drive, the problem is with the drive. If you test the drive on three computers and it works perfect on two, and fails on the third, it has something to do with that computer. |
still doesn't work samcat .. it's similar as yours cases .. but .. still doesn't work .. |

doesn't work on any copy of windows? did you have a friend try it? if so, the drive is probably not functional. |
it used to work before .. well .. i haven't tried all window versions yet for the usb drive .. usually, i use it for window xp .. i have tried couple pc with window xp home and pro .. still doesn't work .. |
I faced the same issue - the drive would function perfectly at work but at home it gave me too many problem - (using XP SP1 - both places). At home it would not let me copy/paste formet etc etc etc - sometimes a file that I had copied would become "corrupted" at home but worked fine in the office. I think it has to do something with the OS - I really havent found out how to solve it besides dumping the drive. Trust me - I have tried evrything I could to work around it :( |
everytime .. i see only .. 0 mb on the drive .. i can double click to see the size .. and i see just 0 |

Do you have the latest real player. Real player has been know to cause conflict with removable drives and some internal drives. |
nope .. no real player .. |
Did you try on all of your usb ports. I have 4 usb ports on my computer, but only 2 of them work. If it still doesnt work, then I would think that it maybe a defective drive. How long have you had it. When did it stop working? Do you have system restore? if so, see if you may have installed/uninstalled anything that may have affected it. I remember that one time my openmg jukebox program wasn't working so I did a system restore to the last known date that it worked and it fixed my problem. (note: use system restore at your own risk) |
