The Ptune and the Th55's audio player

I don't know is anybody has this experience before?
Ptune consumes a lot of battery, and it lasts around 5-6 hours in TH55, but the TH55's built-in audio players lasts more longer than Ptune.
I use the th55's audio player around 8-9 hours for mp3, and the battery life still has around 85%

Kosmonoko 05-13-2005 07:37 PM

Yup TH55's audioplayer is the best for saving battery.

PCMaven 05-13-2005 07:50 PM

That's because the TH55 has a dedicated chip for the Audio Player. Other programs can't access this chip so they drain more power.

bbmak 05-13-2005 08:11 PM

but, one thing that i hate about it is th55 doesn't support realplayer format because the size of the realplayer format is so small, and i can store up to 100 realaudio songs in a 128MB memory stick.

jjesusfreak01 05-13-2005 08:57 PM

At what bitrate? If the Real format could really do that, it would be the only one anyone used, but since it isnt, im guessing you are using a low bitrate.

Kosmonoko 05-13-2005 09:31 PM

why not use atrac that should work on a 128 MB...

PCMaven 05-13-2005 10:21 PM

It's a choice you have to make: Battery life vs. storage space

Karim 05-13-2005 11:13 PM

Actually the choice is mainly audio quality vs. storage space and battery life.

PCMaven 05-14-2005 05:57 PM

I use my TH55 for MP3s on my commute and purchased a 512Mb MS for it. I record my MP3s at 160kbs and the sound is good using the native audio player and my Shure E3C earbuds.

Skaah 05-15-2005 03:16 AM

The build-in player will not play VBR MP3s, that sucks.

PCMaven 05-15-2005 08:37 AM

I agree and couldn't use any of the VBRs I had previously ripped for my T-665 in my TH55 but to me it's a small price to pay considering how much I like the rest of the TH55.

What is the difference between VBRs and usual? :o

PCMaven 05-15-2005 09:13 AM

VBR is Variable Bit Rate. Basically it uses a lower bit rate to encode "silence" and a higher bit rate to encode louder portions of a song that need it. Theoretically it saves space without a loss in quality.

Hope this helps.

Its bout the same. I haven't noticed a big hit on battery like I did when I use PocketTunes so now I have MediaAudioPlayer as my set up for listening to music.

Kosmonoko 05-17-2005 12:06 AM

hmm do you think i reinstall media launcher? i use co organizer and i don't really like how it messes up the tabs. unless there is away so that it won't get messed up. Also does watching video on landscape work on the TH55 with landscape 1.1? THanks...

I love the media launcher, Yes I would def. reinstall. the picture viewer is lighting fast I never used the Clie viewer but frequently use my photo's now that the media launcher makes them so easy and fast. the tab thing is a no brainer it just says title instead of viewer and you get three more ext. with the new tab. I used the media launcher before and after landscape and without Landscape a simple refresh made the photo's show in land scape although the movie player never worked well in Media launcher format and as a result I just used it from the main page? Not sure how to explain but all where equally as functional and most improved with Media launcher. Finally the movie player does not work in landscape with the landscape program but this is not ness. because landscap is bilt into the factory movie player app that comes with the device. I hope that makes sence. Francis

WHAAA!! Did I read this correct? You got the photo's to show in landscape with a refresh? How? I don't se how you can refresh. I tried to refresh all apps that didn't work. I went in and open up photo, closed it and opened it again, still no. Please tell me how you did it, that would be soooo great to know! :D.

Yes you heard me refresh! there is an icon that has two document looking things connected by up and down return arrows located up in the left hand corner. I downloaded the Jamerican file from here at 1st source and everthing went down like whipped cream. I wonder if I have some wierd DA that makes this work differently than most because I was allways amazed more people didn't go crazy over this app. it changed the face of my Th-55 and made me sufficed to keep it for a few more years without hungering for an upgrade? Francis

LupeValenz 05-17-2005 03:53 PM

You must have some weird function because that icon doesn't refresh mine, it just changes from Icon view to title view, still stuck in that 320x320 area, but so far I'm giving Landscape a trial and really do love it and how you can have apps pop up in whatever orientation you want. and Photos look good with MediaLauncher. As for Movie Player, ahh, I don't watch too much movies so right now, Audio and Photo tabs are runnin flawlessly.

zubenal 05-17-2005 05:23 PM

I use this program to convert from vbr to cbr. It s free!

ahha LupeValenz and francis i can't make the audioplayer work it says im missing the library. i just have the MMutilLib and JpegUtillib, do i need something like an mp3UtilLib?

if you make make media launcher start at landscape it works good.
i can go to both movie section and the photo section

Hey post number 333

wow im so smart i installed the media launcher for the UX50 i think that's why it's getting messed up:(

And i didn't back up

LupeValenz 05-17-2005 09:10 PM

Heheh, yeah, that would contribute to your situation. Here is the link for the TH55, all you need to do is download, put to memory card, copy or move to RAM, reset and enjoy your new audio player :). As for the Viewer tab, don't worry bout it. When you open up pics from freenotes, it will use the MedaiLauncher photoviewer which is nice ^_^.

Edit:Also, lil advice, use the built in MoviePlayer, with Landscape and MediaLauncher, the movie tab will show you the movies, but when you play it, hello mr. frozen screen. Have to do a lil reset, but Audio works good in Portrait and Photos good in Landscape ^_^. Have fun with your new TH.

Kosmonoko 05-17-2005 10:51 PM

Thanks it works :)
IS your audio tab in full screen? cos mines has big white screen at the side

arg i used codediver to make if fullscreen but

i realized i have problem i try to use movieplayer, camera and audioplayer i get
systemMgr.c Line 5852, Sys Linker Stub(): Failed to load the sharedlibrary.

This sounds like a hard reset.

Your trying to use it landscape right? Audio tab will work best if you use it in portrait. Wha...movie player...Well I checked the default movie player and its running good, same with camera and audioplayer. You must have something diffrent, I just saw your post about clean palm and hopefully that will help clear out your old medialauncher files and just install the TH55 version. Good luck :)

Kosmonoko 05-18-2005 01:28 PM

Yes media launcher works perfectly now if only we can use the skin of the UX50 because i hate that fact we can't use a full lanscape on the audio player however you can make it full screen with codediver some buttons are missing.

BTW is the refresh button the one next to happy face.
Also what does the happy face do?

LupeValenz 05-18-2005 01:31 PM

I don't know bout the refresh but the lil happy face is button that helps when you have the volume on max, you plug in the earphones, it will take volume down to 70% so it won't hurt your ears.

Kosmonoko 05-22-2005 10:50 PM

Hey is there way we TH55 get the skin of UX audio player or the UX audioplayer skin?
Or isn't there a program that can make sim city full screen? forgot the name of the program... can that work with the audioplayer...
