PalmOne Tungsten T5 Software List Thank you, Lance |
I've just installed these programs, hence the lower confidence levels which may go up over time. Mobipocket 4.8, build 413 www.mobipocket.com - Low-Medium (runs 320x480...nice!) Epocrates Rx 7.0 www.epocrates.com - Low-Medium iSilo 3.35 www.isilo.com - Low (but the pop up menu in the lower left corner disappears periodically; runs 320x320) Lance, how about of list of programs that we know DON'T work at this time? It would save others same grief until those programs are updated. i.e. BBVFS 2.15 www.bluenomad.com I get a fatal error |
Hmm, little confused on the confidence levels,[compatibility levels?], what I think the basic question to know as a T3/OS 5.2.1 user considering upgrading is: 1. Does the software work like it did on the T3? and what version. For example pTunes 3.04 would have to answer No. to the above question but pTunes 3.05 is a Yes, Other No's would be Built in Calendar app, BackupMan, ShadowPlan, DateBk5 etc..... Cool.. "Need" level works for me, thx... |
The confidence levels have to do with the amount of testing for the software. Someone might load and use the application for five to ten minures, while others might have used the software for hours over the past week. Thus, a 'High' confidence level should be representative of someone who relies on this application a lot and knows the application has been extently tested. On the other hand, a 'Low' confidence level should be representative of someone who used the software for fifteen or twenty minutes and did not run into any problems just testing the basic functionality. As iPalm alluded to, the confidence level should go up over time, and I will update the confidence levels as appropriate. I hope this clarifies the confidence levels and my intentions. Thank you, Lance |
Lance your going above and beyond as usual!!! Thanks!.. Another thing to note if possible is what the latest version of the software that is listed is released for example iSilo is currently @ 4.15 (perhaps a type above?) |
No, not a typo. I haven't upgraded to iSilo 4.15 yet, so I can't speak for that version. |
SmartList To Go 3.001 Causes error on start: (Sys 0505) (0, 841) Then fatal exception -> reset This sucks. It's one of my 'must have' apps from my TE. |
It would be easier to sort/understand if the apps that 'need' to be updated are separated from the compatible ones... |

Hi Lance I have Kinoma 2.2.2 installed and working with the videos that were already on my card. I haven't tried installing anything new, but existing videos play fine (albeit, not in full screen). A. |
These don't work on the T5: 1. Graffiti 1 Files 2. TealScript No G1 for you! You'll get G2 and LIKE IT!!!!!! |

Thanks, Lance |
Add SkinT3! to the list. Refuses to change the DIA. |

I converted the files direct on to card, and didn't use Hotsync, maybe this made a difference. |

There are newer versions of these: Isilo v4.15, and BBVFS v3.03 You should be testing the newer versions for compatibility, not the older ones. :-) |

In the future, I will try to weed out the older software where updates to the latest version are free. Thanks, Lance |
LightWav version 3.0 # 2004.082 Medium Works great so far with Pocket Tunes 3.0.5 to provide Mp3 alarms. |

iSilo 3.xx to version 4.xx is not free but discounted as most software companies do. Version updates between 4.x versions are free so far... |
MMPlayer 0.2.13 - The bookmark feature does not work for videos on an external card. It works on the internal card. This means you have no way to continue where you left off. I'm guessing this is caused by having two cards (one internal) in the T5 and the software doesn't handle it. |
BBVFS v3.03 does not work on the T5. Same error as previous version. |
Gekko? I thought you returned your T5? Do you still have it? -Eric |
uh....I did test some apps during the 48 hours I had it. |
MyBible 3.0 works fine and also Mapoplois. |
MetrO 5.1.2 works well on T5. HanDBase 3.0i2 works well. HighWire Viewer 2.0.5 works well. KidoMeter 4.2 works well. Skyscape works well. ICUmath works well. Cheers. |
I apologize for not posting replies to point out the various updates that I have made over the past few days. I have added every title that has been suggested, in addition my own. I would like to point out the DataViz has a patch for Beyond Contacts that provides compatibility with the T5. See list for link (i.e. first post of this thread). Thanks, Lance |
Handstory & Thought Manager Thanks Lance for the hard work providing the info for all those people seriously considering the T5. Really appreciate it! I would like to know if anyone knows if Handstory 2.3 and Thought Manager works on the T5? I consider these two apps important in my daily use, really appreciate it if anyone can confirm about this. Thanks again. |
In regards to the T3 files AppSlipRotate.PRC and StatusBarLib.PRC, I discovered that one program I installed on my T5 loaded these files, and after a hard reset (required by the T5 Updater), these files were then HotSynced back into the T5, causing the virtual graffiti area to vanish as well as the menu bar at the bottom of the screen. It took me a while to determine that one or both of those files were to blame. I'm not sure which app installed those two. I found these two in the hotsync backup folder, deleted them, and everything is back to normal. You might want to check your backup folder to see if these are lurking in it. Regards.... |
I installed the Lexi-Comp reader v 2.2.041008 from Lexi-Comp, Inc., which is the reader for the Lexidrugs database at http://www.lexi.com. After a medium amount of testing of the reader with the drug database, it appears to work well with the T5. |

These work (with limitiations) I've tested the following, and they work. I hope there's no duplication... Software name, version, (Confidence). Comments. Web page. LifeBalance, 3.2.5, (Need) Will NOT work. Crashes requiring reset. Llamagraphics have a patch available by email (see below). http://www.llamagraphics.com/LB/LifeBalanceTop.html LifeBalance, 3.2.61d, (Medium). Version sent from Llamagraphics (they will email to any who request it), but is still a beta of their next release. No obvious bugs, but sometimes very slow because of the "debug processes" (something the good folk at Llamagrahics bring to your attention when they send it). http://www.llamagraphics.com/support/email.html Splash Shopper, 2.6a, (Low-Medium). It works fine, but not all screens display 320x480. Lists will, but edits won't. Splash Money, 3.02, (Low-Medium). It works fine, but not all screens display 320x480. Lists will, but edits won't. Splash ID, 3.12, (Medium). Seems to work fine except for opening password screen which will only operate 320x320. Cheers, Tim |
SplashID works fine 320x480 portrait and landscape version 3.02 medium http://www.splashdata.com/splashid/ |
CelestNav 2.5 Uses Mathlib.prc Low http://www.mobilegeographics.com/celestnav/ Seems to work OK, 320x320. The screen where user can change degrees and minutes for lat/long and altitudes using the onscreen keyboard in the dialogue window does not respond to keyboard taps without first re-highlighting the number with a double tap. On the T2 this works right away. The software has not been updated since 2002. |
|
The list has been updated accordingly. Thanks, Lance |
PubMed On Tab 1.4 works fine too. |
I've been working with Jason at jkware.com, the developer of CardBackup, version 2.1b of CardBackup), but it generates errors backing up large databases to the external SD card. He said in an email to me, "It appears as though the T5 has some issues. I have another user that is having similiar issues. I'll be trying to reproduce them here and see what happens. My apologies for the problems. We'll see what we can do to get them fixed." He is working on it, but the issue might be a T5 system bug. |
Wha's the status of Tealscript? Gekko, says it causes fatal errors on hotsync, anyone can confirm that. This app is a must for G1 lovers.... |
1. A trusted correspondent tells me that the following apps are running fine on his T5: Bonsai 3.3.1 Epocrates Pro PEPID 2. And I just got this email from ZZTechs: "ZLauncher v4.30 works with your T5." That rounds out my "must have" softare. I am going to switch to my T5 as my main handheld this morning and retire the T2, but keep it as backup for work until I am very comfortable with the T5. |
ZLauncher 4.3 does work on the T5, but what I can't get it to do is recognize my SD card, in order that I can move files on to it with ZLauncher. When I tap and hold an application and select Move To Card, the only card it offers is the internal drive. If you actually move an app there, it causes a fatal error and I have to do a soft reset. The only way to get out of the problem is to delete the moved program with Uninstall Manager. I'd be interested to see if anyone else is getting this. The Card Info app on the T5 recognises that there are two different cards, and if I exit from ZLauncher I can access and see the SD card perfectly well. |
