BTW, I do want to say that the developer's been incredibly supportive and responsive in the past, so I think this simply reflects his frustration with P1 and not an unwillingness to continually improve his great program which I've been running on my TC for years. I can't migrate completely to another PDA unless I know that Shadow will run properly!

bump!! I would like to know too!!

ipalm 11-06-2004 04:22 PM

I got tired of waiting for a response, so I went ahead and tried it myself. Seems to work OK as a self-contained program, but experienced lockups whenever deleting any item with a link to the Task PIM, requiring a soft reset. Didn't try with links to the other PIM applications. I sure hope the developer will come up with a fix soon - his comments on the Yahoo board are not very encouraging. Anybody have more recent information on this?

Meanwhile, the developers of Bonsai have updated their application to be T5 compatible...

As far as Documents To Go Total Office goes, all the components have been updated (Documents To Go, SmartList To Go, and Beyond Contacts), but I do not know how the Total Office is packaged. Is it one install?

Feel free to respond on the thread pertaining to the software list here.

Thanks,

Yes, I see that date now at the bottom. Sorry, kind of new here and just learning the ropes.

It appears that Docstogo Office is a single package containing Premium, Beyond Contacts and Smartlist. I'm not sure if they just bundle all the individual ones together, or it's a single install. I'm hesitant to install if it's going to cause problems. I suppose I could email Dataviz.

thanks,
david..

Compatibility

ViaMichelin Maps and Route Planning v1.0: medium-high once you get it running - you have to use the Files application to rename or create a folder called VMCarto_Maps on Internal memory or SD card to put your maps in. Full hi-res screen, works well. GPS a bit slow to connect via Bluetooth, and woe betide you if you turn Bluetooth off before disabling it first in Maps and Route Planning! Unless you enjoy hard resets, don't follow their advice to install FileZ T3 support.
Documents to Go Premium Ver 7.002 build 829: medium-high. Full hi-res screen
eReader from PalmOne CD v.2.5.4f: medium. Full hi-res screen.
FileZ 6.4: medium, but *don't* install the T3 support. I'm running mine from the SD card.
Plucker v 1.8: medium-high. Don't use Plucker Desktop to install the reader, because it only does v 1.6, which is 320x320. The 1.8 reader is a separate download and does full hi-res.
Resco Viewer V 2.11: medium-high. Well worth the $$. A good graphics viewer, fast, and allows a bit of image adjustment. (brightness/contrast/gamma). Full hi-res screen.
HandMap 4.7: low-medium. Bit of a puzzle - dragging the map north-west caused total collapse, and various errors occurred at other times as well. The vendor's support was able to reproduce the fault on the emulator, but not consistently. In the light of other comments here, and having removed some possible sources of conflict, I'll try again.
I think some problems are caused by conflicts: something (MobiPocket? EasyCalc 1.22?) messed up Plucker, Documents to Go, and eReader. Go figure.

RifleSlugs-W Update

Still nothing from Penreader, maker of RifleSlugs. They don't answer my emails. I'm going to try again, and hope! The reason the program doesn't work, is that it blanks out the screen and displays nothing. Perhaps there's a workaround, but I've seen none.

constantine_j_k 11-07-2004 02:20 PM

Hello,

does anyone if Resco explorer works fine with the T5?

Thanks

seascape 11-07-2004 03:05 PM

Documents To Go was running fine on my desktop. When I installed the T5 to my laptop, DTG automatically installed there too (from the palmOne CD). Can we use DTG on both computers with that one registration license? I couldn't find that at Dataviz' website. Thanks.

Is Receiveit still work on T5 ?

After looking at their web site, I think it is save to say that they probably just bundle the software together in one box while the actual installations are probably separate. I say that only because you cannot download a trial version of the Total Office package. You can only download trial versions of the individual software packages. Thus, when you purchased Total Office, you would probably end up getting the latest versions of Beyond Contacts, Documents To Go, and SmartList To Go.

Anyway, I would still recommend contacting DataViz to be sure.

Thanks,
Lance

Lance 11-08-2004 07:50 AM

I have updated the list accordingly. I will wait to hear more about HandMap 4.7 before I put it in a list.

Thanks,
Lance

Virlin 11-09-2004 02:02 PM

Handmap

I tried all sorts of things, but no way could I get Handmap 4.7 to run without crashing out big time.
However, as a stopgap, version 4.5 (but not the Clié version!) runs in colour, but no hi-res. Better than nothing, but not good enough for something I've paid for!
I have notified the developers of the problem, but no solution yet.
I'd rate 4.5 medium at least.

SoS 11-09-2004 02:05 PM

Dataviz has notified me that both Total Office and Passwords Plus are T5 compatible. I suppose you could add this to the software list.

I ordered and downloaded the Total Office package and I did have to download all the separate packages. You were correct that it appears to be the latest versions of the individual packages.

Final question. Is Chapura's Pocketmirror Key Suite compatible, and a worthwhile conduit upgrade?

thanks again,
david..

There are several options available to synchronize your data with Outlook. You have purchased one of them, Beyond Contacts. Key Suite is another option and is a competitor for Beyond Contacts. The standard and professional versions of PocketMirror synchronize Outlook data with the built-in PIM applications on the Palm device. If you use the conduits provided with the Palm on the installation CD, it also synchronizes the data in Outlook with the built-in PIM applications on the Palm. Beyond Contacts and Key Suite use their own applications and databases. Thus, Agendus and DateBk5 can access the data if you use the bundled software on the installation CD or PocketMirror, but they cannot access the data in Beyond Contacts and/or Key Suite.

I can go into more detail if you like, but I hope this gets the general idea across.

Thanks,
Lance

Here's the results from my testing (since last Saturday) :-

Shadowplan 4.0.1 - Works fine.

LauncherX 1.1 - Works but does display battery life in percentage. Only displays voltage.

TomeRaider 2.88 - Works fine.

MiD 5.3.3 - Works but dictionary database needs to reside on INTERNAL Flash storage

MegaCalculator 2.3.4 - Works but text are slightly misaligned

RescoExplorer 2.2.0 - Works fine.

ShadowPlan 4.0.1 does not work for me. Can you try this? Create an item and link it to the ToDo database from Shadow. Now delete the item in Shadow. My handheld locks up, requiring a soft reset. Does yours behave differently?

Yikes... It locks up! :( Sorry, didn't test the linking functions earlier. Ever since SP could handle alarms, I stop linking SP items to my tasks or appointments....

Web Pro 3.0.1 Does NOT Work

I gave Web Pro 3.0.1 a try on the T5 since I really like its bigger font size and Full Screen mode that Blazer 4.0 does not have, but it did not work.

All I got was a screen full of garbage and had to soft reset.

You can buy Web Pro 3.0.1 from
http://software.palmone.com/Platfor...productId=88625

palmOne's web page says:

Palm Web Pro 3.0 is compliant with Palm-branded OS5.x handheld devices. This includes Treo 600, Palm Tungsten E, Palm Tungsten C, Palm Tungsten T, T2, T3 and Palm Zire 71. This software is not compatible with non Palm-branded handheld devices.

I hope that palmOne comes out with a free update for those who bought this program.

PS. Someone wrote earlier that OmniRemote does not work. I did not see the first post updated with this information.

My earlier response may have been a bit misleading. You can use DateBk5 and Agendus with Beyond Contacts and/or KeySuite. You just have to make sure the conduits are enabled to synchronize your Outlook data with your built-in PIM applications. These conduits (if setup to synchronize with Outlook using the software on the T5 installation CD) should be listed as Calendar (Outlook), Contacts (Outlook), Notes (Outlook), and Tasks (Outlook). This will allow DateBk5 and Agendus to access the data. Currently, I do not think Agendus if fully compaible with the T5.

Even though you can use Beyond Contacts and DateBk5, I do want to remind you that the data is still separate. Thus, you may have to perform two HotSyncs to get the data updated everywhere. For example, you make a calendar update to DateBk5. This will not be seen in Beyond Contacts until the Calendar (Outlook conduit) updates Outlook. Then Outlook has to transfer the information to Beyond Contacts. Depending on the HotSync order of the conduits, this might take two HotSyncs.

Anyway, I hope this helps. Thank you, and I apologize for any confusion.

Best regards,
Lance

Thank you. This does clarify it better. I still have questions regarding ease of use and features. Is there a forum that discusses the merits of the various datebooks, and contact managers, available?

MobileDB v4.1.4 (www.handmark.com) is a REDLIGHT.
It begins OK but hangs when you try to load a database from the internal "card" or when doing any action that requires moving a database from external to internal memory (which MobileDB seems to want to do often). I suspect it is unable to deal with 2 external memory options.

MMPlayer 0.2.14
Still has the same bookmark problem. You can't use bookmarks on an SD card, only the internal card. Thus you can't resume a video where you left off.

The download page says that 3.05 is not compatible with the T5 and 3.05 in the version history mentions nothing about T5 compatibility.

add: just doublechecked and no....3.05 produces a (Sys 0505) (0,841) error when attempting to access the card. ...bummer

Llamagraphics have just released a new beta update for T5 users of Life Balance. New version is: Life Balance 3.2.6d2. You still need to request it by email (as it is a beta) but it is significantly faster than the previous version. It is blindingly fast in fact.

All aspects that I have tested work well. However, Llamagraphics customer support say the occasional Hotsync bug has not yet been fixed. I would still rate it "medium".

Dokusha on T5

It's a rather exotic request, but does anyone know if Dokusha works on the T5?

Dokusha is an English-Japanese dictionary and kanji learning tool. (website here).
It has been designed for older Palms and should work fine, but it has 6 databases of ~700K each and the new memory architecture might create problems.

SmartList & TEal Script Work on my T5

[QUOTE=quantumred]SmartList To Go 3.001

Causes error on start:
(Sys 0505) (0, 841)

Then fatal exception -> reset...

SmartList is totally a must-have for me too, but after getting the error, I emailed their support and they have the fix up already. SmartList works great on the T5 now.

[QUOTE=Gekko]These don't work on the T5:
1. Graffiti 1 Files
2. TealScript...

I have had no problem using TealScript and TealEcho on the T5--have been using it daily for several weeks. As for problems others have reported, globally enabled TealScript has never crashed in synch and I synch a LOT.

I don't know about any HotSync problems, because I HotSync only when I absolutely have to.
I copied the program and my profile to the T5 from an SD card via UniCMD; apparently it works without a hitch ("Medium", I guess).
