iSilo 4.01 320x480

(Thrilled to see my big project on a big screen finally. I had designed it using DreamWeaver with a 320x480 handheld screen in mind, and I'm delighted with the way it works and looks on the T5!)

powerOne Graph 4.0 320x480

All my scripts are working fine.

I tried version 4.30, and I get the following error:

WindowGraphics.c,Line:1876,empty bitmap family

I do not get this error with version 5.00 Beta 4.

Thanks,

I dropped a line to ZZTechs regarding my problem and they came straight back with version 4.31. I will install this evening at home and report back.

Lance 10-29-2004 06:22 AM

Thanks for all the updates everyone! :) I have updated the list.

Please include links to the software. Preferrably, I would like the link to the developer's home page instead of PalmGear, Handango, etc.

Best regards,
Lance

Correction regarding MedCalc. That was an old version. The new version is
"RxCalc". Delete MedCalc from the list.

I tested version 4.0 of RxCalc -- it caused a Fatal Exception. I emailed the developer.

powerOne Graph's URL is http://www.infinitysw.com/

RxCalc and MedCalc appear to be two different pieces of software. Both pieces of software are listed at PalmGear. MedCalc is at verison 5.1 and RxCalc is at version 4.0. I hope this helps.

By the way, RxCalc was formerly known as DoseCalcPlus.

Thanks,

Datebk5 v5.4a-p1 is supposed to be compatible with the T5

seascape 10-29-2004 10:14 AM

ZLauncher 4.30 is causing some Fatal Resets. I have hunch the problem lies with graphics ("Window Graphics.c, Line 1876, empty bitmap family"). I installed the latest prc from ZZTechs website.

powerOne Graph only works in 320x320 (did I report 320x480?).

Bonsai or the T5 produced a white screen first time I opened it. I did a soft reset and it worked fine subsequently. But this isn't restricted to Bonsai, because I've encountered that white screen in other initial openings too. Maybe I'm not waiting long enough for the T5 to do something?

PregPro 4.05 (a 2001 version) 320x320

No longer supported, but worth knowing that some really old software runs fine.

In addition to Bejeweled, I have the most recent versions of Candy Train, Big Money, Hedgehog, Text Twist, Tradewinds, Chainz, Tantric and Noah's Ark, all from Astraware, and they all run fine too. Tradewinds even runs centre screen on the T5 i.e. not with the DIA area to fill in the bottom of the screen.

The answer is definitely that I did not wait long enough for the T5 to respond. I saw this the first time I used several newly apps. Lately I've been waiting -- the screen always comes back eventually. The wait isn't very long. Subsequently the apps open as fast as always (promptly).

You should be testing the newer versions for compatibility, not the older ones.
:-)

I would like to see some older versions tested. Like SmartListToGo V2.603, for instance.

Anyone have Pocket Quicken who could check both the execution on the PDA and the hotsync conduit?

I'd be interested to see if anyone else is getting this. The Card Info app on the T5 recognises that there are two different cards, and if I exit from ZLauncher I can access and see the SD card perfectly well.

OK, so I dropped a line to ZZTechs, they sent me version 4.31 of ZLauncher and it works, the device now shows both Internal and SD cards, and I can move programs to the SD card without crashes.

Check www.zztechs.com for the updated version.

I've searched and can't find the answer to this question: What kinds of problems are seen with Shadow Plan 4 on the T5? In the Shadow support newsgroup the developer doesn't seem too interested in "reverse engineering" his program to fix the issues caused by P1's OS, so inquiring minds want to know how severe the problems are.

BTW, I do want to say that the developer's been incredibly supportive and responsive in the past, so I think this simply reflects his frustration with P1 and not an unwillingness to continually improve his great program which I've been running on my TC for years. I can't migrate completely to another PDA unless I know that Shadow will run properly!

I have tested the image viewer GrxView vers. 2.8.2 (www.indevsoftware.com) to a medium degree with JPGs and BMP files and works great.

I have run Hellfire vers. 1.00.04 (http://www.astraware.com/palm/featu...e=0205-111-0111) to a medium degree and it works fine (runs in 320x320 mode only)

iSilo 4.15 OK

Hi

I am using iSilo 4.15 and it works on 480 x 320 mode. (Medium confidence)

I also installed ThoughtManager (beamed from my m515) and it
opened in 320x320 -- haven't tried to do anything with it. (Low confidence).
http://www.handshigh.com/

Brainforest 3.08 works in 320x320 modem (medium confidence).
http://www.ultrasoft.com/BrainForest/Wish
Wish this one was 320 x 480.

Web Confidential 1.4 works in 320x320 (medium confidence)
Patience 2.6.1 works (medium confidence, 320x320).

Salling Clicker 2.2.372 works in 320x480.
http://homepage.mac.com/jonassalling/Shareware/Clicker/
(This is a neat app that lets you remote control various functions on
your Mac with your Palm (or phone) using BlueTooth).

PocketChess 1.1 works (low confidence) 320x320. This is a really old app.

Kalk 3.07 works (low confidence)
http://www.klawitter.de/palm/kalk.html

Where you know it could you add to the list an indication of whether the app uses the whole 320x480 screen ??

Thanks - Michael

seascape 10-30-2004 04:48 AM

I have not got Lexidrugs, PEPID or Sanford Guide running yet on my T5. Part of that is due to the change in Device ID, requiring answers from Customer Support, but part might be due to changes in the T5's software. I'm still working on all 3, since they are my key references at work.

PEPID needs a fancy workaround that unhooks HotSync's timeout, for example. PEPID is offering T5 users access to their online version while they work on the problem.

Sorry I am new to these lists and hadn't noticed you have a hi-res list
as well.

Lexidrugs is running now:
Reader: v. 2.2.041008
Database: Lexi-Drugs (International)
Low
www.lexi.com

Lance, what about a Yellow category, for software that runs on the T5, but there are known issues? eg:

ZLauncher (I don't like running betas).
PEPID (installation requires a HotSync timeout workaround).
DateBk5 (not fully integrated with T5 yet?).

HanDBase 3.0k
Not stable. It works sometimes, but in the first few tries since installing it this morning:
1. I could open and view databases.
2. Then I got a Fatal Exception closing out a complex database that had been giving me trouble before. I did a soft reset by tapping the Reset virtual button.
3. I opened a basic flatfile database on the handheld, added a test record, closed HB, did a HotSync, and the record appeared in the desktop side fine.
4. I then deleted that record on the handheld, but when I try to close that database I keep getting a Fatal Exception when I press Home, requiring a soft rest triggered by pressing Reset on the screen. HB keeps opening with that database open. I tried a warm reset/soft reset sequence, which worked. I was then able to close that database.

Lance 10-30-2004 09:34 AM

I am out-of-pocket, but I will update the list as soon as possible.

Thanks,
Lance

Jim,
I use HanDBase 3.0K2 for tracking patients and procedures (in Interven. Rad.) I do - the main DB has 43 fields and it uses 4 linked databases, numerous popup lists, etc (i.e., I consider it to be a complex DB). I tried your steps 3 and 4 above, but I was unable to reproduce the problem. HanDBase has been rock solid on my T5 so far.

William1 10-30-2004 10:15 AM

Crash vers 2.10 from www.79bmedia.com fails to load, saying that "Crash is currently not supported on this device or on this OS version", even though their web site says that it is OS 5 compatible. I sent them an email notifying them of Crash crashing (as it were).

Skyscape's SmART reader system for their medical references, so far just running the EM eMedicine database (new downloads today): Works very well so far on the T5, after looking up several topics and tapping around, in and out of the eMedicine database. I also purchased 3 other products from Skyscape and will load them as well.

According to Gekko, it happens on every hotsync when Tealscript is globally-enabled. If its not globally-enabled, even if Tealscript is in the handheld, nothing wrong happens on hotsync.

Ultarsoft Money

Hi All,

New member, first post and t5 owner for 4 days. I am using Handbase 3.0K5 and it has been rock solid for me as well.

Also Ultrsoft Money 4.02 works at about 90%. It's very useable and syncs well. Some of the drop down menus cause the "sys 0505" error message.

Thanks for all of the contributions.

PixelPusher 10-31-2004 09:31 AM

I'm assuming all of you have installed the update from PalmOne ... if not that might explain why things work differently on two different T5s. (One updated and the other not.)

Aeroplayer 5.0.1 (http://www.aerodrome.us/index.html)
Seems to work well. Tested portrait & lanscape mode skins as well as changing skins. Only sees media on SD cards automatically, but you can create a playlist to use media on the internal falsh. The playlist editor sees those fine. Background play seems to work, Power saving screen timeout function works but overrides the system default while using background playback unless you use 'system default'. I'd call it a Medium

Software on T5

I tested the following software on the T5 (with ROM update):

Easy Calc 1.22, 320x320, Medium (with Mathlib), http://easycalc.sourceforge.net
HandMap 4.7.2, 480x320, Medium, http://www.handmap.net
Hiarcs 9.43, 320x320, Medium, http://www.hiarcs.com
ChessGenius 2.1, 320x320, Medium, http://www.chessgenius.com
ChessTiger 15.1, 320x320, Medium, http://www.chesstiger.com

DOESN'T WORK:
NoviiRemote 2.5.1 (incompatible with T5's IR port), http://www.novii.tv

I'm particularly glad that EasyCalc 1.22 works. This software is apparently not supported anymore but I haven't found anything else that even comes close. Very handy for the daily calculations I've to do as an engineer.

Cheers.

LexiDrugs works on the T5. I used the demo all last night during a shift. To unlock the demo if previous subscribers are transferring to the T5 from another device, the subscriber has to phone or email Lexi-Comp's Tech Support to provide the new DeviceID, and then they will provide a new License Key. I found the procedure difficult to obtain from their website, but direct contact from their support folks fixed me up promptly.
