It's a sad thing...

It's sad to see how the M5xx seems to be history. Granted, I know that some people were angry with the SUDS disaster story and a few other glitches, but to my own amazement, after having bought a lot of machines and still owning most of them, I find myself going back to my m515...

NR70, NZ90, T|T3... Have 'em, but my sleek, small, lightweight m515 has my preference. Call me crazy, but that's the way I feel.

Just a thought to keep this forum alive...

Cheers!

I like my 515. I use it with a SnapNType to write reviews when on the move.

spvwolfy 04-13-2004 04:23 PM

I still have my 515, and it runs perfectly!

Well, until the form factor of the M515 is duplicated, I'm keeping my M515.

The only other handheld that has my interest is the new Tungsten T|E2 which has yet to be released but which "might" be the perfect replacement.

Otherwise, nothing out there to draw me away from what I perceive to be the best handheld ever made by Palm.

I, too, very much appreciate the form factor of the M500 series and the V series before it. I bought a Vx on Ebay and would love to buy a M515 for my aunt, but cannot find one for a reasonable price. My aunt is the kind of person who owns an organizer (Sharp Wizard), took the time to put in her info., but never carries it with her. I think the sexy look of the M515 with it color screen can change that behavior. But refurbished ones are still $125 at some places and as much on Ebay. I guess that just shows how much people still value them!

If anyone has one to sell at a reasonable price, send me an email at ojleblanc at yahoo dot com. ;)

I use my m500 daily in conjunction with a Tungsten E. It is definitely a love/love relationship between the two - each has so many strengths.

Another m515 True Believer here. I'm trying to use both my T3 and my m515 but haven't really solved the problem of all my registered software being tied to a single Hotsync ID.

Since it looks like I cannot find a m515 at a price I'm willing to pay, I think I'm going with the Tungsten E. Oh well.... still a nice, thin device.

I think Palm needs a classic Palm with the same form factor and the same functionality (cradle, software, vibrating alert, etc.) of the M515. It was a true workhorse. If you could add a 320x320 screen, a newer processor, and a 5-way navigation pad with a $175 price point, I believe the thing would fly off the shelves. Audio and wireless connectivity would be nice, but at $175, I do not think it would matter. I know $175 sounds low, but the Zire 31 is $150 with MP3 capability. Who knows, they might be able to fit the audio component in there, too. ;)

Take care...

Well, I've purchased both-- a used T|E for my aunt and a refurbished M515 for myself. I paid more than I wanted for the M515, but I just had to have it! I have to explore the T|E with my aunt in mind. I hope my conclusion is it will work for her. If not I'll give her the M515, but I really want to keep it! I have no love deep in my heart for a T|E ;)

I just hope more of you express their love for the m500 series form factor... Who knows we could get things rolling and get a new machine in the sexy outfit we all love...

keep dreaming!!!

Cheers,

I said it once... and I'll say it again...

People are now saying that it was a sad day when Sony announced that it would no longer launch new Clie models in the US, at least in the foreseeable future. This was all too predictable, in my view.

As I said previously, I keep going back to my trusty and loved m515, and leaving more recent machines in the drawer. Sony ones especially. I am no Sony basher, for I have bought two very expensive Sony PDAs and I have done so because each of them captivated me in their own way. (T|T3 is a nice machine, albeit not a perfect one with the "slider" and the lousy Graffitti 2...)

Nevertheless, having them side by side with my T|T3 and with my m515, I find myself falling in love all over again--with my m515!

Sony's announcement just reiterated--in my mind--what I've always known... The design of Palm machines in unbeatable in the eyes of the public, and also the decisions of Palm to stick with the right stuff (universal connector -excepting the T|TE of course-, SD\MMC card slot expandability, SIZE and form-factor).

Having that being said, and since Palm beat Xerox on the patent issue, if Palm would only go back to Graffitti 1 and the m5xx form factor... we could all dream with having a new, great mXXX machine, with a higher resolution screen, virtual graffitti and the works... Don't care much for all of Sony's useless bells and whistles... just crave for a true workhorse machine (as m515 has been called in this same thread) with updated technology.

This could be a new beginning... :p

change from the ipaq to the NZ :-)

a few years ago, i change from the IPAQ to the NZ.
boring of the change from compaq into HP... and more... and learn to love the power of the Palm-NZ!
So i use him daily more and more with movies (2GB magicstore and a 1GB Sandisk MS-Pro...) this all worked fine and now I am soo sad about the stop from Sony... we may never reach a Palm 6.0 from Sony - and the NZ has become something like a Music & Movie - SMS & Surf Station!
Even when the Battery is so sad (bad...) we learn to life with it.

In this way I hope that Cliepet and Pelaca dont sop working in patches for our NZ-bright-Star. :-))

cheers

I am also sad about the end of the cliesource!
we lost something like a home over the years... !?

I have a TT and 515. When I got my TT, I decided to keep my 515, which is unusual, as I always give away my old Palms. I just really loved my 515, and wanted to keep it. It is still an awesome machine!!!

Well, that is a TE! Minus the cradle and wireless of course.
