I LOVE Graffiti1 I put Graffiti 1 on my T3 the other day and am MUCH HAPPIER and able to input data much quicker! I tried to like G2 but never figured out how to write a word that ends in L without changing it to a T when I make the space before the next word (without pausing much longer than I had to with G1). I also had problems with getting a space before words that begin with F. Additionally, I never figured out (have to admit I didn't try too hard either) how to get some of the symbols I use on a regular basis ($, %, :, etc). I'm curious, how many long time G1 users with T3s have converted it to G1. If not, how do you cope with G2? Am I missing anything by not using G2? Mad Mike |
Palm owner here since May 1996, when I bought my Pilot 5000, so I've been using G1 for 7+ years. When I bought my T2 at the beginning of August, I fought with G2 until somebody came out with the solution to revert to G1, which I promptly did. I bought my T3 on 9/26 and immediately loaded G1 on it. As I was having some problems (probably caused by software conflicts), I took it off a couple of days later. I have not put G1 back on my T3 yet. I've been trying to use G2. But every day, I'm getting a little closer to going back to G1. Nope - you ain't missin' a thing :( except having to do more strokes for the same characters. |
I seem to be a quick learner :D. When I got my T|T3, I was a little mad 'cuz it didn't come with G1. But, after a weeks use, I got used to G2. It is a little harder to use (I hate the "i" and "k" rule  ), but you get used to it, much like me getting used to the circular keypad on my 3650. |
Count me in for G1! Can use either but LOVE G! and hacked it back to G1 within the first hour. |
Well practice, practice, practice... That what I keep telling myself. I did convert my T3 to G1 but started to experience digitizer issues. It started not to react to the input as well as it did. I know that right off the bat you loose the built in middle cap app. It takes time to learn anything that requires retraining, but I will be going back to try again G2. I think hat after a while you loose sensitivity to the graffiti input. |
Well as we are in doubt of just HOW compatible G1 is for the T3 I have downloaded TealScript from tealpoint and trained it to G1. Everything works great and don't have the digitizer issues. It's cheap and easy, and I can still have it my way. :-) |
I used love to Graffiti 1 but now I more prefer Garffiti 2 :D |
n0m0n - If you use the three section Graffiti input screen you can get caps without the uppercase stroke by writing in the middle section. Of course, you loose the icons on the side but with the status bar at the bottom and Button Launch 1.5 I don't miss that at all. Vidge - I haven't run into any digitizer issues, yet. What programs did you experience them in? Mad Mike |
When I first got my NX80V, I hated G2, but it kinda grew on me. Now I'm pretty fast with it. It has it's advantages over G1, mainly that you don't have to do an upstroke to capitalize a letter. I thought that was annoying on G1. But hey, whatever floats your boat.;) |

As I only had it on my T3 for a couple of days, I was loading and reloading stuff getting my T3 setup for an out-of-town trip. (I got it on Friday & had to leave for a week on Monday.) I don't remember which apps specifically misbehaved, but it was annoying enough for me to do a couple of hard resets and reload all of my software one at a time. (BTW, I've done more hard resets with my T3 than I've ever done with any POS unit that I've owned over the last 7+ years - combined :() I think the main problem I was having was getting Datebook5 (my most used software, by far) to work the way I wanted it to. I was experiencing a delay as well as a tazer-like sound when entering a new appointment or marking off a to-do. It was quite irritating. (Delay is still there - sound is gone since I turned off the systems sounds.) So I took G1 off and just haven't had time to put it back on. Maybe next week... |

You can use the "classic" Graffiti input screen to create uppercase letters by drawing them near the center on top of the dotted line. See example in the attached image--this will create an uppercase "S". |

Ok when I copied the 3 prc's over, and installed them onto my T3 at which point I reverted back to G1, and all that it had to offer. I did not have any Cap app abilities. Could I have done something wrong??? Now what version of G1 are you using??? I mean from what unit. PDA??? Thanks |
I used the G1 files in the T2 and it worked fine and so good sence says load them in the T3, which I did. HOWEVER when I did that it started getting really flaky. I did a hard reset and installed TealScrip and trained it to G1 style and I have a stable T3 using "G1" style graphitti. I would think twice before loading the old G1 files into the T3. I think the new Graphitti area and it's "way" of doing things is too different for the G1 files to handle. |
anyway that i can use the G1 file?? can some one show me the way to download and also the steps to revert to G1?? |
You just need to take the 3 prc's. from a older unti that uses G1 Graffiti Library.prc Graffiti Library_enUS.prc Graffiti Library.prc Hotsync them onto your T3 and they will over write the G2 prc's. Remeber a hard reset will restore the G2 so copy a set of the G1 prc's. onto yoiur card so that you can always restore them. |
