Concerns: buying from Handango

i'd bought War Incorp from Handango a month,

but never recieved the serial number,

i tried to contact both them and Handmark (publisher of the software)

and its not until i post a complaint here as well as sent multiple mail to all the email account i can image (help@handango, support@handango, sales@xxxx, salessupport@... )
before i get to a human at Handmark and eventually sorted out the problem

but still No Answer from Handango yet!!!

Handango must be one of the biggest of these PDA/Smartphone online shop site available,
these kind of service is NOT ACCEPTABLE.

what's your experience with Handango? or other shop?

Yes, I recall emailing Handango some time back about a problem with similar results. All I got from Handango was auto "canned" responses to emails. Finally worked out the problem directly with the SW vendor. Given a choice, I'd prefer to do business with PalmGear. ;)

Yes, PalmGear for me! I have never shopped at Handango, and never will. Why? Because they don't seem to have a good way to find freeware.

i used to use Palmgear a lot during the early internet years
when i was using a Palm 505
but somehow i stopped using it for a while
gotten used to Handango (cause they have other PDA support)
i will try with Palmgear at next try maybe

I used PalmGear all the time but stopped when they began changing things like making it hard to find freeware and making you go through all those sign in screens just to download software. I went to Handango as the other main alternative, but have never liked Handango's search capabilities and general layout.

The last couple purchases I've made at Handango have given me problems with my credit card. In one case it got my card put on hold for possible fraudulent use, and the last time it just kept saying that they were unable to process my transaction and I would have to call customer service. I was tired of it, so I went to PalmGear and ordered the same stuff and the transaction went through with no problem. So now I'm back with PG since they seem to have cleaned up their act.

I always thry to find the developer site first, to see if I can pay them directly.
If I can't, I go through whomever I have to to purchase the app.

when i was dabbling with the dark side (ppc), most of my purchases were from handango... and now that i have returned to the light - well, i guess not anymore...

the SUPPORT SERVICE IS TOTALLY LOUSY

it takes AGES and DOZENS of EMAILS to get ANYONE to reply to a support question....

that ALL together - havent used Handango ever since - maybe would just buy straight from the developer

I think we have had equally bad experience with both. I have had better luck with Handango. PalmGear double billed me once and I told my credit card co. They made the adjustment and all of a sudden my PalmGear account is gone. So then I went to Handango and no problems so far. I wish they would increase their point system for discounts, it seems a bit cheap to me.

I've had better luck with PalmGear, but most of the discount coupons I've come across have been for Handango. I'm not really happy that Handango limits the amount of times you can download your purchased software. I had to go through a bunch of hoops to be able to get that software again.
I've had to email both Handango and PalmGear for various things, and PG wins out on the customer service front.

Yep, me too.
I used to deal strictly with PalmGear but since Kenny West has seemed to have taken a back seat, I find it less friendly.

I buy and sell from both Handango and PalmGear. Sell may be a strong word here! I let H and PG peddle my wares and they graciosly take 40% or more off the top. Ouch, they could at least buy me dinner first. ;) Damn pimps!

As a developer-partner for each, both H and PG have horrible technical support for buyers and sellers. Both look for new and interesting ways to squeeze the developers profits even more. Both try to delay payments to developers as long as possible; even longer than that in PG's case.

My point is this: Don't expect either to get the registration codes to you. You and I are just grains of sand on the large beach of customers/developers they have to deal with. You should always go first to the software developer and request/demand it. Find that goobers personal email and hound him until he gets it to you!

My main problem with Handango is that they charge additional tax (I presume this is for non-US customers); Palmgear does not have such extra charges, making it usually cheaper than Handango.
