NZ90 headphones not working

Ok, not sure if I've done something, or my unit's become faulty or what... but now when I insert headphones into my NZ-90, nothing happens! It worked fine a few days ago, then yesterday I went to plug in headphones and nothing, the internal speaker kept playing. I wiggled it around to make sure it wasn't a loose connetion, still nothing. So I thought the headphones might be faulty, so just got and tried another pair now, exactly the same thing!

Is there some kind of setting on the unit that can disable the use of headphones even if they're plugged in? Doesn't seem very likely. I did a forum search for headphones and didn't come up with anything... anyone suggest what it might be?

Thanks in advance.

can you tell us whether you were using AudioPlayer, MoviePlayer, SoundUtil, etc? and were you playing it off a CF or MS card?

for me, when playing videos from a CF card, often the buttons would freeze but would still continue playing the video. normally, when you insert your headphones in the jack, that the audio would transfer from the internal speaker to the headphone jack. but while the buttons are frozen, when I plug my headphones in, the audio will remain playing through the internal speakers. this only happens when playing movies on the CF card.

other than this, I don't know what your problem might be.

It was with movieplayer, and... I'm 99% sure my NZ-90 has become defective. I've now noticed that along with the headphone jack completely not working... the screen does not invert itself when the unit is open in clamshell mode. I cleaned the contacts that tell it when to switch over (when you rotate the screen) but nothing. What a sinking feeling that was, knowing that my clie is failing....

I guess it's a call to Sony tomorrow to see about repairs, I wonder how many hundreds of dollars this is going to cost...

Have you tried doing a reset? Just a thought.
