Adding files to 'Referernce' in ClieOrganizer Did anybody try to add files to the 'Reference' in ClieOrganizer? Three files are included by sony by default and I wanted to add some image files under 'reference' such as subway map and etc. It seems the files under reference is formatted in certain way. Sony allows to delete files under this folder but not the other way. Any tips to add files to the Reference? Thanks. |
Has ANYONE figured this out yet? If so, could they please drop a few pointers here for those of us who would like to be able to actually use this feature. |
There appears to be two files for each "data sheet". Looks like one is about the right size for the sheet itself and the smaller one is perhaps the thumbnail. If they are images it shouldn't be to difficult to fake them, and a suitable header (given the format), although I can't find where they are saved on the clie - which would make it tricky to install them! Perhaps it could be done through the desktop? Has anyone got any useful info out of SONY on this? I agree that this could be really useful - if we were allowed to use it! |
I wrote something similar yesterday: http://www.cliesource.com/forums/sh...light=reference I already tried to fake the files (edit filedir.dat, filedir2.dat and the 2 files for each reference picture. But when I copy the fake files back to the \BNRI\ directory, Clie Organizer wonīt start. You canīt hotsync the files to the clie as well. ...Hmm, any ideas? |
Yeah, I have an idea. Inundate Sony with emails! Why put the Reference area in there with out allowing it to be used to it's fullest potential? Do any of our Japanese users have more access to this tab? It seems, at least in the past, that Sony gives Japanese customers a little more than what they give us. |
If someone has a viable email address at Sony to mail to, post it. That will give us all somewhere to direct the mail, instead of to the general tech support mailbox. |
Bump! This subject has too much potential to let it disappear. It would be great if a few of our more technologically bent friends on the source work this problem out. I see alot of uses for the reference area. Maps, diagrams, charts, tables, etc.! |
I agree. You would think this would be something easy to use, with a "converter" of type included on the CD. Hell, if people can hack the hardware (ie Bottons) then this should be easy, once completed. |
So I'm not going to get any help here, HUH? |
it would be really interresting to find how to do this. In Europe we don t have access as well... |
dmale7 - I think the consensus here is that no one really know what to do with it. Believe me, I have tried a lot trying to get this working. |
this link may help as a starting point. http://www.cliedeveloper.com |
Thanks, I started a thread at cliedeveloper.com: http://www.cliedeveloper.com/forum/...d=1327#post1327 Maybe someone knows our problem... |
The refrence pages are stupid... Kind of like sony forgot to take them out of the beta version of CO. |
yeah it seems that way...but I could really use something like this. I can put diagrams and tables that I need. Detailed maps or charts. It pisses me off that they would leave it so...unfinished! It's just like when we all had the NX70 with the CFslot that couldn't use compactflash for storage. It was infuriating (remember that? It was just a year ago) But some of my pals here at the SOURCE fixed that problem. So here we are again. This seems like small potatoes compared to the CFslot fix. Who's up for the challenge? Where are all of the cliesource innovators? What happened to Paleca? And others like him? |
