"Internal Error occured" when sending attachment from Cliemail I get the above error when trying to send an email with a photo attachment via Wireless on my UX50. I can send emails without attachments just fine. If I OK the above error there is a slight delay and then I get the error "SMTP: Obscure Error". I don't know if the problem is with the CLie or my mail server. I can send attachments just fine from Outlook when it connects to the mail server. Help! |
On further testing it seems it is not arrachments that cause the problem but ANYTHING other than text in the subject line. If I simply put a single character e.g. "a" in the main body of the email I get the above error!!!!!!!!!! |
Cliemail Everytime when I'm trying to sent e-mail (with ClieMail), I have an ERROR: SMTP:550 Relay denied What is the settings for eMail suppost to be? |
On the clie all you need to set are the names for the send and receive servers, your username and the password. There are other parameters you can change e.g. timeouts, port numbers etc. buyt you should be OK with the defaults. I assume you have tested sending emails to the same server using another tool e.g. Outlook on your PC? As for my problem it was really strange. I found that if I tried to open on of the emails in my outbox it would not show me the text in the main body of the email, I just got the same Internal Error occured message. This showed that the problem was nothing to do with my sending emails at all, the Clie was not sawing the main body of the email text. I messed arround creating emails in Draft, editing them etc and now everything works fine. I can send attachments and everything. Unfortunatly I have no idea what I ended up doing that solved my problem :-(. |
Yhinking about your error a bit more one thing that springs to mind is you could be hitting a security feature on your mail server. Some mail servers only allow you to send/receive mail from them if you are connected to their network. This is to prevent spammers etc. from using their mail server to send out emails. The error message you are seeing could well be related to that. Is the mail server you are using provided by the ISP you are connected to via your Clie? If not you will need to check to see if they allow this type of access. |
I've been getting this series of errors as well. But in addition to the sending problem, I get the "internal error" message when I try to send. All other connectivity is fine. The weird thing is that it's not just clie mail that gives the errors. I also have Agendus Mail and it to has the SMTP error. Really Weird:confused |
The SMTP "relaying denied" error is one that the mail server gives back when you try to send mail. Basically it tells you that it doesn't recognize your hostname/IP as an internal client, and the recepient isn't a local address either, so you are requesting "relaying" -- sending from one third party to another. This is usually not allowed, as it allows for easy spam sending. This can happen if you're connected through WiFi through a neighbor, T-Mobile, or other network, and try to use the mail server of your provider. What you need to do is either of: 1: Use a mail server and mail client that allows authentication. 2: Only send mail when connected to your main ISP. 3: Use the mail server of the ISP (or hotspot) you connect to. Ask what the mail server is, or try the very common "mail.dom.ain" and "smtp.dom.ain", where dom.ain is the name of the provider. Unfortunately, the CLIE doesn't handle the domain name correctly through DHCP, so you can't just enter "mail" or "smtp" like you would on Windows. Regards, -- *Art |
