New skin "Shadows" for Palmrevolt and skin UI
 

I've been working on a new skin inspired by the HTC Touch HD. So far I have only finished the Palmrevolt version but will start working on the skinUI version soon. I will add animations to the alert popups in skinUI.


I dont know if I am keeping the alert icons as of yet so they might change. The beam icon was sorta just a joke for me since I have a blue 755p. That will change though when I finish the skins up.


If there are drawing issues please post along with screenshots if you can. Some of the highlighted items the Treo does not use compared to PDA;s so please post if there is an issue.

Lookin' good, but it doesn't work out so well for me because I disable "Color" in SkinUI effects globally because it doesn't mix well with the fonts I use in FontSmoother. Without the forced black background, this skin loses a bit of its appeal. I've practically eliminated SkinUI because it and FontSmoother muck up a lot of screen draws. The "pretty" interface is nice, but given the choice, small fonts take precedence.

But as I said, in a test import to SkinUI and FontSmother disabled, this looks nice! Good job.

Thanks for the compliments. I started with Palmrevolt cause it s easier to use HPskinstudio to fit images together than the skinui skinmaker.

Without the black fill it wouldn't look nice at all so I feel you on that one. I myself don't like dark themes much cause in bright daylight they're difficult to see.

Right now I'm working on the colors in the skinUI version. Its a little difficult since some of the colors labeled as not used in the rcp file actually are and I have to find out what they are.


hopefully in a week or two I'll finish the skinui version. :D


SO far I have 2 issues with the Palmrevolt version that I need to fix.

1 no frame color on Treo call buttons and some old applications that use the same color for button outlines.

2 calc is using a light grey text instead of black.

Signal bars in 700p
 

I like the SkinUI version, but I lose the signal bars on my 700p, they remain black so they're lost in the background.
I too am getting the blue select box, not sure if that was something you were just working on for PalmRevolt.

Unfortunately that along with the title bar and speed dial buttons text in the Phone app are not editable in either skinUI or Palm revolt. I think a couple of apps suffer from this as well including Pics n Videos

For whatever reason they do not use the same method of choosing color and always remain the black color.(white for selected speed dial button)


As far as the blue box? Do you mean the original palm highlighting?

If so, some programs will still use that regardless. This is true for both skinUI and Palmrevolt. Palmrevolt gives you the option of changing the colors in menu>color theme.

I REALLY like this skin on my black Centro. All that is missing is an accompanying ZLauncher theme. Do you mind if the bitmaps are extracted from your skins to create one (or better yet, do you have a copy of the bitmaps you are willing to share)?

I've been thinking about doing an inverted theme withe a white or very light grey background actually.

I want to make a different skin in dark/light blues to match my 755 though. Maybe this year. It ws very time consuming to get this skin done. Especially the animations.

Great skin, I think the dark colors help with any privacy concerns as well. ie someone looking over your shoulder, also I think a light blue on black would be sweet.

It looks very good! I have had to given up on skins though since i have found that my Treo 680 runs so much faster (which is NOT saying a lot) without those kind of apps running.

Could you do a version for PalmRevolt please?

I know what you mean about slowing things down but its not really noticeacble on my 755. I think skinUI's pretty skins are one of the reasons I'm still happy with my Treo. :D

Being able to pick a color from a palette screen would be sick! Second to that would be a few different compilations. BLackBorder, BlueBorder, RedBorder, etc.

Well.....for anyone interested I started working on an inverted version. Basicly white backgrounds with whitish buttons. Same concept as the shadows skin. Since transparancy isnt supported trying to keep the buttons almost the same color as background to kinda simulate transparency.

Im about 1/3 of the way done and will probably make a new thread when it gets done. As of now if I have enough time I might be done by Christmas.

I love your your black PalmRevolt skin, you seem to have something many people don't - logic. Your skin is clean, consistent, sharp and easy on the eyes my only gripe is the icons which is the only element that isn't as fluid.

Is there a chance you could substitute the icons with a more consistent/2D style ala StealOS-Grey which the only part of that theme that I like.

First off, this skin is tha bomb! Love it through and through but...

Hatch, I don't know if it's the skin or SkinUI functionality, I posted this before but I understand you may not have known what I was talking about.

Below are my problems with colour conflicts, is it just that SkinUI doesn't have access to the colour of that area? It seems that the built in Palm colour changer doesn't mod it either.

Every first message is unreadable and every second is hard to read.
A way to change the background of the week dialogue to black/grey?
Numbers are unreadable..
Titles are unreadable..

I noticed that PalmRevolt has a more indepth but less intuitive user colour mod dialogue. I can't find anywhere which explains the meaning of the list items though, any ideas?

Second... I absolutely love this skin (and it's made me a dark-skin convert.. very Touch/pre/iPhone-looking to me..) and with FontSmoother, some use of Colorize (added the "big button" border of a light grey), and now the FocusColor hack thanks to this thread, my Centro is looking amazing..\

My only problem is these apps that seem to have white/light grey hardcoded into them! Messaging (SMS) is the biggest problem, but also Calendar does it and so does Sprint Mobile Email app which I use... is there a way to hack this? TIA!
