Cloudbook delayed too much so I purchased an EEE. Right after the purchase (like a day later), Wal-mart starts selling Cloudbook. I think its a sign that God wanted me to have an EEE. LOL. Anyway, I've been reading up on the Cloudbook's graphics and the EEE's are far superior so I'll stick with the EEE. |
I think you will enjoy the Eee. You should be sure to go to eeeuser.com and check out the forums and wiki for a lot of useful (and some useless - to me) information. Some of the things I had read about the cloudbook were not too complimentary. Regarding the "touchpad" in particular. |
Yea, I was planning on installing a touchscreen anyway. Yea I'm a member at eeeuser.com and cloudbooker.com Great websites. JAmerican |
Ok guys. You might be getting pissed off at me by now but I want a Cloudbook again. The main reason is because of this... http://heybaccala.com/tech/cloudbook-day-3-and-4/ It can play Vice City ! :D JAmerican |
So . . . . install XP on the Eee . . . |

The problem with the EEE IMHO is the 4G of memory and the small space for modification compared to the Cloudbook. The only reason I got the EEE is because I thought the Cloudbook would be coming out in March which was too far away. I think more can be done with the Cloudbook. Plus, I got a touchscreen and I don't think it will fit in the EEE. JAmerican |
A fair number of people have done touchscreen mods on Eee PCs. It depends on the screen you have. It's your money, buy whatever you want. Why would we care? |

I just like to keep people updated because I said I'd be getting the EEE. JAmerican |
J, 3 minutes is too long to wait for a computer to boot =) last time i saw bootup speeds THAT slow was on my first desktop 75 mhz Packard Bell back in 97 =) Go with EEE ;-) |
i plan on saving up for an eee...but with dmitrys mod...well i dont know...i want to be able to look at my email..im etc...im a stay at home dad to a toddler...so i need a durable item...plus im a pc repar/warranty for several different companies..so the ability to have a small...but larger screen than the ld would be handy.... |

Who says I'm keeping slow-as-hell gOS on there. I'm putting XP on it. BTW the last time I had 4GB of HDD Space or something close to it was my Windows 95 machine with 3GB. I don't want to go back to that. JAmerican |
Yea I'm just going to keep the EEE. I'm getting tired of the back and forth. I already have the EEE coming to me so I'll just accept it. I'll have to get more memory now and more RAM. :(. JAmerican |
And for a good portable gaming platform we just have to hold out till this may when GP2X Pandora comes out :) |

Not worth it IMHO. Too thick. Even the DS is too thick for what it does. I'd prefer a PSP if that also wasn't as thick and underfeatured. The EEE will be my gaming machine. JAmerican |
It's easy enougn to use SD cards or USB sticks for memory. They're cheap and portable, and work fine. You can also plug in a USB hard drive if you want. Having all the storage internal is confining, and an old-school concept. You can take the external storage and use it on any computer you like, anywhere. I haven't found the SSD space limiting at all. The sub-30 second boot time is also nice. |
