Missing Sync won't even install! Wow I never thought macs could be so frustrating. I purchased missing sync tonight and Missing sync installs fine, but when I check the new missing sync folder, there's only 3 files. 2 text docs and 1 pdf. Isnt there supposed to be more files? I've tried to install it about 10 times now and I have also tried to install it logged in as root and that didnt work either. I have the latest version of mac osx, palmdesktop, missing sync, isync, and of course itunes/iphoto/ical/etc. Any Ideas?? |
Relax, its normal. it installs the drivers and the rest works with palm desktop. Have you tried syncing yet?? It should work fine. |
Then how do I sync to address book and ical? I could always sync to palm desktop even without missing sync. I want to sync to ical and address book. That is the reason I paid for missing sync. |
Well I finally figured it out. I didnt have the isync hotsync conduit. I never knew I had to actually go to the apple site and download it. I read all the documentation and help files too. Anyways, does this mean I didn't need to purchase missing sync after all? All I wanted to do was sync ical and address book. |
Syncing with iCal and Addy Book... To sync with iCal and adress book, you need to download the iSync software from apple's site. When you download the software, there should be two files (If I am rembering correctly) one is the iSync installer, the other is the iSync to Palm conduit installer. Once you have these both installed, you need to go into hotsync manager for palm desktop, and then select conduit setting from the hotsync item in the menu bar. Once there, you should see the iSync conduit listed. You need to then click on the conduit settings button (once you have selected the iSync conduit in the list) and once you press the conduit settings button, there should be a check box in the dialog box that opens that say Enable iSync for this palm device. You need to check this box. Once you do these things, your sync should sync with iSync, iCal, and address book. |
Depending on the model clie you have you may not have needed MissingSync. The Clie's w/ MP3 players seem to require missing sync to sync, but those w/o don't need it. You do, however need it to mount the MS on your desktop, itunes, and iphoto. |
What phones are you guys using ?? i cannot get my nokia 8910 to sync with my powerbook. I think isync does not support nokia phones. The bluetooth connection is detected but no contacts appear in address book. :( |
I'm using a t68i. If you hit up the apple site www.apple.com/isync, you can get a complete list of compatible phones. |
Yup, they are all ericssons... :( So i guess i will get one. :) |
