Hi, all
today my TX went dead. I worked with DocsToGo, and the programm seems to be stuck in an endless loop. Also I pressed the reset-button. The orange palm-logo appeared, the the classic logo .... nothing happens.
Next I tried a hard reset. But when I selected "Delete all data" again the classic palm-logo came, but nothing happened. Again and again .....
Letting the battery drain down did not help too.
- Has anyone experienced the same problem?
- What could be done?

Do you have SD card in your slot? If so, take it out before reset. Another option is the "Zero Out Reset"... but i'm not sure whether T|X still has it or not...

I've tried the hard reset both with and without SD-Card: No results.
Searching in the web for a zero out reset, I found this information:
Palm-Support (http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=PalmSupportKB,ts=Palm_External2001,case=obj(887)#zeroout)
But It seems not to help.
If I drain my batteries, the device turns out. How long would you wait for a complete battery drain? Is there a way to force it (Without opening the case)?

The TX uses NVFS (non-volatile file system), i.e., flash memory to store data, so even the battery drains out, the data should be still there... It sounds like you are having a hardware problem, I think.

I'm wondering where is the difference between ROM (often implemented as FlashROM) and say FlashRAM (where data is stored) and 'real' RAM, where Programs are executed and data (like heap) is stored.
For my understanding a Hard-Reset should wipe out all data in FlashRAM and RAM. The ROM should be untouched, when not written by special Applications (OS-upgrade or so).
So a Hard-Reset should ignore the content of FlashRAM and RAM.
Am I right with this?

Just email PalmOne support and pray that they actually help you... . Or, if you still can, return the device ASAP and get a new one, as Palm will defnitely send you back a unit that already was used....
Ayways, a hard reset kills all user data. Thus, it should also remove the parts of the Flash RAM that dont contain the OS... . BTW, a hardreset on a TX takes some time, so do one once again, pres the up button if it asks, and wait...

k-reger,
It sounds like you have a corrupt file that DTG sees. It probably just needs to be deleted. More on this later. BTW, did you ever successfully use DTG?
You need to put your stylus into the reset button in the back & while doing this, press & hold the power switch. While continuing to hold the two down concurrently, you need to hold the power button down while you remove the stylus fm the reset button.
Only after the orange logo disappears & the black line completes the process of being drawn across the bottom of the screen (fm left to right) should you stop holding the power button down. Then you should see a screen asking if you want to erase everything, in several diff languages. If this doesn't show, it means you need to try again & 'time it' better.
If it happens that you do a successful wipe of the unit & the problem persists, you should call palm customer service & don't be afraid to be tough & insistent that the unit needs to be replaced; because once wiped, the only thing on the palm is what was there in its 'fresh out of the box' condition & if what was there causes it to crash, then it is their fault.
The Palm cust. svc people seem to be trained in trying to point fingers at the customer, but this, if still bombing out after the hard reset described above, then something inside ain't good & they have to make it good.
Let everyone know how this works & don't depend on email, they probably have a backlog longer than your & my lifespan combined.

Yes I did.

technical1,
thank you for the advice, but the problem is: Hard-Reset does not finish. After pressing the Up-button to erase all data, the grey palm-logo screen appears for hours and hours.
I searched for all kind of resets, nothing happened. If I could get back to an empty device, it would be no problem for me, but now ... :-(
I tried also a debug-reset (reset+btn-down), the screen goes black and on the top a white line is blinking, but that is not really helpful. Now I wrote a mail to PalmOne ... looking what happens.

I guess something must have fried inside your T|X. Better get an exchange ASAP as suggested by others.

Yes, you are correct.
So if even a hard reset can't fix it, most likely it's time for you to bring it in for service.

I agree w/others, if you held down power button while placing stylus into back reset button, & you waited until you saw that grey logo (vs. orange logo) to let go of power &
THEN it still didn't give you the screen w/option to wipe it - then it is toast.
Get that replacement. Fast.
