View Full Version : what kind of battery is inside EB40 ?
Hi
Anybody knows what is type/model battery inside EB40 ?
If you know someone in plastic dies industry it should be
fairly easy to make replica of EB40 case and then put proper
battery inside.
Maybe JA will resume from here ;-)

JAmerican pulled his EB40 apart and found it to contain two of the standard UX batteries connected together ;)
(There is a thread with some pics on here somewhere....)

LOL ... and that is only for ~$200 ;-)
They sure know how to make big bucks at Sony.

How is the battery connected to the circuit? Does it have the same connector as the UX internal battery? From what i see, it looks like the wires of the two batteries are squeezed onto one connector. How to go about doing that if i have two internal ux batteries to spare? My EB40 is pretty much dead so i want to replace the batteries in it.

Different connector (EB40 has four wires; UX has two wires) Not sure about the replacement procedure though.

Do the wires separate from the connector easily?

Nope. You need like a needle or something to push it out. I'm having trouble myself. I was gonna use the EB40 batt in my mod but since its solid, it doesn't fit as easy as two UX batt

I recently purchased a used EB-40 but have been very disappointed in the battery life. I am looking to replace the internal battery. I have already replaced the battery within the UX with little difficulty. I have read numerous threads about modding and JAmerican's mad mods. I was wondering if I could fit 2 TH55 batteries inside (900mah each). If anyone can steer me in the right direction it would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I ahve a feeling that the TH55 batteries are larger than the UX's, thus you can probably only fit one TH55 battery inside the EB40.
2 UX batteries then? I can only find 900mAh batteries on eBay. The TH batts I found are 1200mAh each.

Two UX batteries should fit comfortably giving 1800mAh over the 1200mAh of a single TH battery.

Hello,
I want to replace the battery in my EB-40 with two new UX-50 batteries.
In the original EB-40 battery the two batteries are connected to a little board and from the board with the connector to big board in the EB-40s case.
Do i need the little board or can i connect the two new batteries directly to the big board in the case?
Best regards

Sorry for the delay in answering this one - I haven't been on here for a while...
I believe that each of the replacement batteries should have it's own little board (I think they detect the charge level and the like) and as such you shouldn't need to re-use the one from the EB40.

Hello!
The Green color circuit board is the Protective circuit board for the Batteries.
The New Battery also have one inside the packing for each.
If you want to use the old protective circuit board, you need to cut away some packing material, and connect their +, - side like the original battery and solid them together.
* If you cut the metal solid point, it will hard to solid together later.
* The old Protective Circuit Board is good working.
1. cut away some packing material, you will found the protective circuit board.
2. solid off the protective circuit board from new batteries.
3. connect the batteries +, - correctly.
4. solid the +, - to the old Protective circuit board. (If there are not enough length, you can use wire for expand.)
5. Use tape to prevent the Protective circuit board short with the battery body.
