Hi guys,

I've just spent 30 mins searching the forums to see if this is only a problem with my Tungsten T3.. basically i would like to know if its nmormal for the Bluetooth Radio to take anywhere from 5 seconds to several minutes to start up/shut down (and its usually the latter of several minutes!).

I have always noticed this problem with my T3 and gone so far as to wipe the t3 (hard reset) still to find that with just the core programmes loaded the start up time for the BT radio goes from seconds to minutes within a day.

If i reset the device, its quicker but again slows down within a few days.

I noticve mobile phones manage to turn their radio on in seconds..

I've also noticed that Pocket PC's also turn their radios on in second?..

Is this problem unique to my T3?.. or do other T3 (and tungsten line) owners also have this problem?.. and did i miss something about this in the forum?

Only really bringing this up as i recently got TomTom Nav 5 and its a pain in the *** to sit in the car for 3 or 4 mionuites waiting for the radio to active!

Looking forward to some clarity on this!

Cheers, Gero

My reply isn't going to help you, Gero, but I think I had a similar problem.

I have two T3s and I was using one just for Navigation (with Mapsonic software) and I was having a *lot* of problems with it crashing, and it seemed to me that the problem was associated with starting Bluetooth, as it was at the moment of starting BT when the nav software was starting that the probs occurred. I was often having to reset my T3. The main frustration was that the re-set times were very long and variable, so that I didn't know whether the Palm was soft resetting slowly or needed a hard reset. Once it completed a soft reset after seeming to be locked up for 30 minutes. Times of 2 to 5 minutes were common. I often did hard resets when actually it may have been doing a very slow soft reset. On some occasions when it appeared to freeze while starting the nav software, if I left it a few minutes a dialogue would appear on the screen labelled 'Bluetooth serial port' and saying (from memory) 'Preparing....', but this never got the nav software going, and I would end up by resetting the Palm.

Anyway, all these problems went away when I moved the navigation software to my other T3, so I have concluded that the first T3 I had the navigation software on was somehow faulty, although for all other apps, including apps that use BT (eg sending a file using FileProg, of doing SMS with my phone) it appears to be completely OK.
