Ok. I have read a bunch of threads on putting video on a Memory Stick from a Mac but I still can't get my TG50 to recognize the files. Can someone who has done this successfully break down the steps so I can get this working? I have attached a screenshot of what the mounted memory stick looks like.

Thanks a lot.

Hmph. That's what you get for not reading my review. ;)

To play back an MPEG video, it must be located at \MSONY\MOML001\ on your Memory Stick. And it has to be named MOVXXXX.MPG, where the X's are replaced by any string of numbers you want. However, the letters must be in all-caps, or it won't work.

Kesh,
Thanks for the response but I am still having trouble. I had read about that trick but still can't get it to work. Is it MSSONY or MSONY, and is that within the PALM folder? Could you give a more detailed description? Also, I am trying to play the dolphin video off the Clie disk. Is this already in the right format?

Thanks for your help.

The dolphin video is apparently for demonstrating the Image Convertor program (for windows) that converts videos and images to the clie format. I did hear some people say they got it to work by renaming it appropriately though.

In my case, the MSSONY directory didn't work. I put my MPEGs in (root) DCIM/101MSDCF/ and labeled it MOVXXXXX.MPG (notice the 5 digits -- don't know if it will work with 4 but it worked with 5).

By the way, there was a thread around here a bit ago that explained this and also how to export Clie-viewable movies with Quicktime, if you have Toast installed. You might want to check it out. Sorry I don't have a link handy.

Hi -

You need to create a directory at the top level (not in /PALM) - it's /MSSONY/MOML0001. then, in this directory, you place files called "MOV00001.MPG", "MOV00002.MPG", etc.

In the "Movie Samples" of the Clie CD, there are 2 sample files called "Dog" and "Dolphin" - copy them to the MS, and rename them as above.

That's it !! :)
