Welcome to the CS!

Fast CPU is an excellent program, I would be careful with it, some programs don't 'play well' with it...sometimes there are issues with beaming as well.

Good luck!

Agreed.  You can theoretically get a 100% increase in CPU speed, but in reality, I wouldn't push any app past 75% increase.

If you do plan on using FastCPU, make sure it's FastCPU v3.0, since previous versions do NOT support SL/SJ series.

Agree with the others. I've been happily using FastCPU on my SJ30 and it works great. As suggested, just be judicious. There are really only a few apps that will benefit from a speed boost. Don't bother with the others.

for some games like those based on deity 3d engine could be helpful .. and of course for reading/editing/searching large documents ..

Does anyone know of some freeware utility that speeds up wait states of my SJ20's ram? Ive noticed that Quickbits does this sort of thing, and Im looking for a freeware utility that does the same thing? Programs like Cruisecontrol arent compatible, why?

Try ClockupDA (too lazy to find the site - do Google search). It's a DA that will let you slow down or speed up your unit. It only goes up to 42 MHz, but it plays well with my T415, which some other overclocking programs don't. You can control the speed and wait-states individually (I may be wrong, but I think the wait-state on Clies are already optimized). It only goes up to 42 MHz, but it is free. Just make sure to set speed back to normal before trying to MSMount the stick, or it won't show up on the drive list.
