Hi Folks,
I wanted to spare you guys what I just went through, so this Heads Up. I have Lubak's Fonts4NX installed on my TG50, and tend to use its Handera font most frequently. Smooth sailing, until I started reading my $$ PalmReader books, with that free reader. The fonts and everything are fine, but there's a disconcerting hassle when paging through the doc. Instead of the bottom line on one page, being followed by the appropriate line on the following page-- there's a repeat deal.
Example:
bottom lines of one page:
---------------------------------
This Tg50 doohickey is a marvelous toy, er, I mean
productivity enhancement tool. Whoever said ya
can't fall in love with an inanimate object simply
has never gotten up close and personal with this baby.
top of immediately following page:
-------------------------------------------
and the Treo was fine, but the resolution was driving
me nuts. This TG50 doohickey is a marvelous toy, er,
I mean productivity enhancement tool. Whoever said
Sometimes, just one line repeats, sometimes 2 or 3. So, you wind up spending time on each page turn, trying to pinpoint where you were.
I've been in contact with PalmDigital since Thursday. Today, as I was downloading Lubak's latest update (posted today), it finally dawned on me that those fonts might be causing the problem. Sure enough, when I deactivated the "Handera" font from the Fonts4NX program, and reactivated the "system font", all was well in Palm Reader land.
Since I ain't about to part with Lubak's fonts, I coughed up the dough for the PalmReaderPro and fonts package (just under $25). For me, that makes sense, since I've got a whole slew of commercial PalmReader books.
But otherwise--- this alert so you can act accordingly when selecting apps.
P.S. Nice surprise-- I found the palmDigital folks to be supremely helpful and courteous. Great customer service, which deserves mention!
