Hello,

I've only had my LD for about a week now, and I think it may be faulty :(

Sometimes, after carrying it around switched off and locked, when I go to turn it on again nothing happens. I then try to switch it on again after a few seconds, and I get a white screen. If I then turn it off and on again, hey presto! It comes back as normal.

Has anyone else seen this "feature"? Should I return this as a faulty unit?

TIA

I think this has been reported by others. I had a similar experience and dont use the lock faciltiy any more.

Ahh. Thanks for that. I'll hunt around this forum for similar experiences.

Yeah, had the same white screen problem, but not always. I just turn the device off and turn it on again.

Yep, I get the White screen when I turn the device off and turn it on quickly again.
I believe its a BUG

Yep, same here. Can't reproduce it, but it happens to me a few times a week. May be I should try not using the lock feature..... but that would be another point off the LD. I don't think I like to carry 4GB of private data unprotected.

When you turn your LD off just give it a second or two before you slide the switch over to lock. When you slide the switch back to on again give it a secont or two. Then you wont have a problem.

That's a variation of the well known white screen of death, I believe. I have it since the first day, it can be a real pain when you need to access data fast and the LD doesn't turn on the screen.

I had the problem when I used the "fast unlock" feature to lock my LD (the hardware keys unlock feature)

I have entirely disabled that feature since it caused quite a few problems (white screen of death, inability to turn on, soft reset that left my LD unlocked, etc)

IMHO, just turn off that feature and it will solve your problems.

Hope Palm will solve this issue when they release that rumored patch, because I really liked that feature, but the costs are too high...

Aye, after experiencing this a few times, you're right. If you switch from LOCk to ON too quickly you get the white screen. If you slide from LOCK to the middle position first, then slide it across to turn it on, no problems.

It's a pretty annoying "design feature", but the LD pro's still far outweigh the con's in my opinion.
