New Palm Desktop incompatible with T3?

I have a T|3. My gf just bought a T|X and i installed her software on my computer. Worked perfectly for her. And i for one thought i was lucky coz my palm software would be updated too.

However, i tried syncing my T3 next and i could not. Looked over to my Hotsync tray and the Local USB option wasn't there anymore!

This led me to think maybe the new software wasn't compatible with my T|3.

It gets more complicated. My brother uses a UX-55 and syncs on the same computer (in a different user on the XP). However, after installing the T|X software, upon logging in, my brother gets a message saying some .dll file was missing and so Hotsync manager could not start...

Please help...

I upgraded my Palm Desktopo to the latest 4.2, and it syncs with my T|T3 just fine.
Not one hickup.

Looks like you have alot going on there. It's not a compatability issue with your T|T3.

What OS on your computer? Are you using Switch User if Windows (a big no-no)? You may have to assign a COM port for your T3's sync. Info on retrieving the missing .dll and setting COM ports at palm.com/support.

I think one thing I've learned is that I shouldn't run my Clie SJ30 and the Handspring Visor off of the same computer. There always seems to be problems this way. I don't have any problem running my SJ30 on a separate machine.

My local USB option disappeared as well with the T|X desktop software. It worked fine at first using the USB cable, since I that is how I did my initial hotsync. I then set up my Treo 650 using the same cable. All was okay. But when I shifted to sycning via BlueTooth, that is when I noticed the USB option disappeared. I was going to reinstall the desktop again, but I left my disc at home. No problem I thought, I'll download the one from Palm. But if you go to the T|X support pages and try to download it, it specifically states that there is no download, you must use the one that came on the disc. So that make me think there are some differences. I'll try to remember to bring my disc in and see if reinstalling it cures the problem.
