Question from newbie.
My desktop computer is running Windows 98SE. However, the system requirements for Palm TX is Windows 2000 or XP. Anybody tried to use TX in Win 98 environment?
Thanks.

I'm using my T5 software with WinME and it works fine other than the fact I can't sync my Contacts db. and File Transfer doesnt work (don't know if T|X has a file transfer in its software) Ive been too busy too troubleshoot it other than the easy troubleshoot points.

I found a work around with transfering stuff through Real Player by renaming the movie or video to mp3 and then renaming it back to its original extension. It works but not in the way I would like it to.

Thanks for the info, I am expecting to receive T|X today and will try with my Win98.

Yes!! Please do!

I'd also like to know if any Linuxen have a LD or T|X; I'd like to know how well it works with Linux too... (Hopefully no weirdness like with the HHE Clies!)

There is a WinME user on another forum who is having problems losing conduits during sync with a TX. Expect similar results are likely with Win98. I think you will have to upgrade your computer OS as there have been a number of changes to Hotsync (version 4.2) on the computer side.

palm desktop won't install on 98
I've got Palm desktop installed on my Win 98SE computer with no problems. So far everything works except old programs I've had on my Palm M500. I didn't have time to try everything, but will report problems if they come along.
Thanks all for comments.

Did you install the one that came with the T|X?

Yes I did, I've installed everything from the CD. Looks like all their samples (photo, video and MP3) work. I download to WordToGo some documents, and installed Piloc program to be able to read cyrillic. Didn't try anything else so far.

Hi,

I used to have a palm T2 and just got a Palm TX. I am running Windows 98SE. Have you been able to hotsync? Like posted above, I can't install the new TX desktop, and the old one won't sync, or at least it hasn't yet.

any helps, tips, advice, anything would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

At work, I have 98SE and can sync my TX with no problems. It is important however, to select in the installation process, to sync only the PIM data and not all the databases and programs you had from a previous Palm. You can then go installing programs one by one (check before for upgrades and compatibility).

The only problem I faced, is that AvantGo won´t sync, it resets my channels and leaves me in the login prompt. Perhaps I should reinstall it. But I am syncing AvantGo by Wi-Fi and I find it faster than updating it via HotSync.

I do not know how you manage to install the TX Palm desktop on your Win 98. Could you please post some screenshots?

thank you very much for your reply. how did you try to get the palm TX to link with your computer? I am running win98SE and just got the palm TX yesterday and so far have been unable to hotsync. "It is important however, to select in the installation process, to sync only the PIM data and not all the databases and programs you had from a previous Palm." Which palm desktop where you using?

So far I have:
First, i tried just hotsycing without installing anything onto the desktop.

Next, i tried installing the TX desktop which was not sucessful.

Then, i tried downloading the palm 4.14 operating system onto my computer to try to hotsync from that but got this error message "...\installshield\driver\11\intel 32\idriver.exe" is not there.

i tried searching for this driver on the web but could not find it.

Now, i am not sure how to proceed!

Oy vey! I am glad to know i am not the only one who has ever tried to do this.
Any advice appreciated.
Laura
