Softick Card Export II (2.21) is now available for the TX and it works nicely.

I just copied the DriveMode files over from my wife's T5. Same functionality (as far as I can tell) and it's free.

I copied them to my SD card from my wife's T5, then copied them into the TX RAM. Works just like it did on my LifeDrive.

Is there any reason it would not be legal to post these files? If it's not illegal I could post them. It's a very small d/l, only 27K zipped.

I'm sticking with Softick's Card Export 2.21 since I had a license from pre T5 times. I tried the Drivemode stuff from my T5's ROM, but liked Card Export best.

Is there some type of freeware that does the same thing as CardExport? I'm kinda broke at the moment...

Yes there is. It's not as nice an app, but it basically does the same thing. It is called Filepc2pda (http://ghisler.fileburst.com/fsplugins/filepc2pda.zip) . It can do one thing that card export cannot, it can also access the PDA's RAM.

I stopped by CompUSA and looked at the LD and T5 and didn't see these DriveMode prc's on them. I loaded my SD card into them with McFile and did couldn't find the files. Don't suppose anyone can point me toward them or send them this way? Thanks.

google for drivemode.zip, first match should be the one you need.

For other language files, get T5 Simulator and use filez to transfer the needed file to the virtual sd-card (the lib file from Simulator doesn't work on real devices, so getting all files from Simulator is not an option).

Thanks a lot, it works like a charm...

just a word of warning when installing it,

i tried syncing it to the palm, and didnt work, so i had first to sync it to the card, and then copy to the palm, and worked. didnt run from the card, had to be in the internal memory to work, but it works.

thanks again.

I started this thread to tell people that Card Export had been updated for the TX and it's turned into "let me see how I can rip-off T5 and or LD Drive Mode for a 'freebie'...."

Don't do anything drastic :)
Softick works but so does googling for Drivemode.zip !!!

As the person who did that I have to say... "Why not?"

It's not like it's the first or only time it's happened. People are always trying to get files from other Palm models to work on there particular model. In this case it was easy, quick and free.

I tried the T5 version of Drivemode yesterday. It works well but I found that it broke my Veramail. It would hang on the second sync. If I remove the Drivemode files it would work just fine, if I put them back it would hang again. I did a reset between adding and removing Drivemode.

Maybe it's time to look at Softstick Card Export II.

I've been using Card Export and NOT having any problems with my TX.

The problem is with the Palm Desktop USB driver, not Card Export II itself - CE II causes my Windows to reset (no BSOD, just reset) even when I try it on my T3, once I'd installed the new TX Palm Desktop.

I've tried the drivemode files and just got an 'application' error when I tried to run it, so I'm going to have to wait for Softick to find a fix.

Hi,
StuGib, you had a pb with your TX and Export Card II where after connecting it to your USB, it makes Windows to restart ... did you find an solution to it, because I have the same problem.

Softick (quietly) released v2.22.840 which fixed the problem for me (v2.21 was causing the Windows reboot). Palmgear hasn't been updated with this new version, so if you download the latest version directly from Softick's website (www.softick.com/cardexport2) then hopefully you'll be ok.

Thanks for the heads up Stuart. I use CE II quite often and do not wish to lose it when I transfer over to my new T|X (hasn't arrived yet).

I fired it up in the Simulator and noticed one other thing it can do -- it can use Bluetooth as the transport!

OK, I've installed Drivemode files on card after a hard reset, and then copyed to palm's memory.
When I open the program and click on "turn drive mode on", the TX resets.
So I can't use Drivemode.

I've tryed Cardexport II (the lates version, 2.22).
I installed, it patched the S.O. and restarted the PDA.
The first time I run it, it worked ok, but after I closed it I could never use it again. It gives an error with "directors" or something when trying to connect to pc. Worst, I can't hotsync. I press the button and the palm starts the hotsync but nothing happens on the pc, like if the cable were umplugged. (off course it is plugged, and I tryed reset the palm and reboot the pc). I had to do a hard reset and start over.
I tryed three times and the three, after a hard reset, the story was the same.

So, why not try now that filepc2pda that is mentioned in this forum. OK, it didn't break anything, the pda still syncs, does not resets, but I don't see the drive in win xp explorer.

Am I doing anything wrong? I'm hopeless...
Thanks for you time and help

No you're not doing anything wrong. Unlike CardExport II, filepc2pda does not use explorer as it's interface. You must use the desktop app for it to work. Follow the instructions in the zip file. The only interface it uses is the desktop app.

On another note ... I got my TX and have installed the latest version of CE II. for some reason my win XP box doesn't even register that the TX is there (keeps blinking unknown USB device). I didn't install Palm Desktop on this machine yet, but I shouldn't have to to use CE II. Is there something that is installed during the desktop install that lets a computer identify the TX? Is the USB interface somehow different?

I'm using CardReader from Mobile Stream. I had some problems with it at first, but it turned out to be related to using a USB port on my laptop's docking station. When I connected my TX to a USB port directly on the laptop, everything worked fine. No need to copy anything to the PC. The SD card is recognized as an external storage device the same as if it was in an SD card reader, hence the name!

I got it for $9.95 from PDATopSoft.com. It even has a background mode (experimental they say) so that you can use the TX for other things while still being able to access the SD card via the PC.

I would like to know if the Tx can run the lifedrive manager software, so I can sync files on my PC to it, ideally over wifi.

I switched to Tx for the size & battery life, but really miss that application: I had work and home PC's synched to the lifedrive, and all my files on it, which was pretty cool.

I also miss db2go, which doesn't run right on the Tx...

Thanks. It is working now (after many hard resets).
It started working, I did nothing to fix it and it is ok now

I can't get CardExport II to work with my TX. It works beautifully first time I use it but then after that I cannot hotsync (Palm goes into a loop of soft restarts) and CardExport fails to work either. I have to then hard reset and reinsatll all my apps.

Anyone seen this and fixed it?

Thanks

Sounds like a software conflict... on the TX, this is often caused by badly managed DB Cache. UnCache and/or Resco Locker and/or deleting/disabling some apps should fix it.

Does anyone know if "drivemode.zip" ;) works with older M series palms? I actually have an old (IBM) C500 that I'd like to try these files on.

Just wondering.

I have a better question..

Why was the Drive Mode app removed from distribution with new palm PDAs? Conspiracy theorists? Hardware specialists? Software engineers? Anyone know?
