Picked up my TX here in Thailand and it is without a doubt one of the best Palm's I have had (and I have owned most of them)! I was using a Treo 650 prior to that and I can't believe the difference in the display brightness between them. The Treo's display is so much more bright and seems to be clearer. Don't know if the reduction in brightness is ment to conserve battery power, but gosh, a disappointment for the TX. Otherwise, everything is going well, some software problems mostly ZL. But after a complete uninstall and reinstall of ZL, problems have gone away. SharkTXfix is great.

I agree the Treo is much brighter. But to me, it is almost too bright. I don't find anything wrong with either one, but was glad to see that I wasn't the only one that had noticed this. Both of mine are US models, BTW.

Hi rlc7254,

My Treo 650 was an unlocked GSM model. I agree with you totally that the display of the Treo 650 is overkill. Almost to bright. When reading a book at night with it, I have to turn down the brightness all the way down! I thought the brightness of the TX when sitting side by side is quite dull. But after trading the 650 in and now only using my TX, the display is quite fine. Love being back to dedicated devices though. No problems surfing the web and sending sms's from my TX using a Nokia 6230i. All in good shape.

I agree, the T|X compared to the TREO 650, the 650 wins hands down. But the T|X by itself is a decent screen to use. I find no problems with it.

I beleive that the Treo 650 has an easy time having the brightest and crispest screen as it is smallest. Light Flux density is defined as charge/area of Flux, thus a handheld can imho reach much more flux density with the same charge if the screen is physicaly smaller!

treo650 has smaller diplsay than other 320*320 palms. that means - size of one pixel is smaller.
so quality of treo650 display can be compared to vga ppc displays - in other words - display of treo650 is very good :D

Treo 650 is the brightest screen of ANY pda. I have both a TX and a Treo 650, there are pros and cons to both. The TX is great for browsing the web due to it's screen size obviously.

I am also in Thailand. How much did you pay for your TX in baht?

Thanx.

Neil

Hi, I found this forum accidentally and I am glad I did. I just moved to Chiang Mai and I could not find a Palm TX anywhere. I tried Airport Plaza and Kad Suan Kaew but to no avail. Anyone knows where to buy one in Chiang Mai?

My first choice was the Dell 51v but it is not sold in Thailand. I was told that its native software allows the ppt presentation projected through a LCD projector.

I assumed that Palm TX can do that right?

I agree that the Treo 650's screen is very bright, however I really enjoy the large form factor of the TX screen. Wouldn't it be cool if they came out with a Treo of similar form factor and specs to the TX?

If Palm were to come out with a keyboard-less Treo 650 with a larger screen to take up that space left vacant from the keyboard, I'd be buying one as soon as I could. Seems like a no-brainer to have both keyboard and non-keyboard models of the same form factor to me.

Completely OT, but when I saw Chang Mai, I had to jump in. I passed through there about 4 years ago (Oct 2001) on a church missions trip. That was our jump-off point to head up north to a village called Mawpi, up in the Golden Triangle area. We spent I think 3 days there before a week in the village, and 2 days after. Loved the area.

We flew from Seoul to Bangkok to Chang Mai; the local missionary we were working with lived in Chang Mai.
