After installing a couple new programs I got an error message I never saw before.
Fatal Alert: Database.c,Line48, Not enough memory to add 5 records.
After resetting I am back to clie launcher--always get this error when trying to use LauncherX. I restore from backupman--then launcherX works fine. New programs are still there but now all works fine.
This happened both yesterday and today, after an install, but I've never seen it before. Anyone have a clue what's going on?

I have a couple of questions for you . . .
First, how many programs, total, are you running . . .
And what are the sizes of all your Launcher X files? (List all of 'em)

Do you automatically refresh the launcher or have it set to manual? Sometimes, it doesn't refresh the icon database when you install or update applications. I usually hit the refresh button after installing or updating.

I have been counting all my programs and I'm not sure if I should be counting the ones which are included with the Clie--and can't be removed. If I total up every program I see listed with LauncherX I get 122!!! This included many which I'd like to leave off...like Preferences, HotSync, MSBackup (the usual included stuff) and then some in my unused category like the files associated with Datebook5 which I'm not sure if I need (dbTodo, dbView, dbMemo) etc. I still can't believe it's that many! I have lots of game I'm just trying (demos) and will be clearing many of those. Is this amount of programs the problem? I could understand that but I've never seen the limitation listed. LauncherX was one of the first programs I purchased for my NX and I was pretty committed to it but now I'm thinking....would ZLauncher be something I should be checking out?
OK now the size of my Launcher X files:
LX Browser 37.3k
LX0S5NXLubakL8 69.6
LXOS5Standard 54.7
which are all in RAM.
Is this all of them?
Thanks for any insight.

Thanks for any insight. No, this isn't all of them . . . there are some that are created when LX is installed. Named something like LauncherXdb or some such . . . if you sort by creator ID, all those should come up. That's what I was looking for.
The reason I'm asking is because there is a known bug that starts when one of those databases goes over 64k (has been noted also at about 50k, but not as often). I know the bug has been reported, but it's most common with people that have a lot of apps, or TRY a lot of apps on their PDA.
If, after you've deleted all the programs you're getting rid of, you may want to try deleting the database files. You'll have to re-categorize everything, set up your prefs, etc., but you should get rid of the problem.
Keep me posted on how it goes.

ok...found it...LauncherXDatabase 59.9
LauncherXCache 50.2
Thanks...I've been cleaning out....at least it feels neater now. I'm sure I'm NOT up to recategorizing everything...this took quite some time to customize! If I have to do that I will try ZLauncher first. That's exactly the reason I haven't tried that launcher other than to load it, look around for a few minutes and then delete. The chore of getting used to new launcher and customizing was too time consuming although it's been tempting. Also...already paid for LauncherX. Just don't see too many fixes and improvements from that company!

How come your LauncherXCache only 50k while mine is over 170k. But my LXDatabase is only 17K while yours is almost 60k? Can somebody explain this? I've been always wondering about the size of this LXcachedicons. Don't know why it's so big. I've refresh it, and even tried to delete it then recreate it. Same result. BTW, I'm using a Sony SJ30.
