Someone remember those good old times when updates where available for almost all Palm products

T, |T|T2, T|T3, T|C, T|E are on PalmOS 5.0, 5.2.1 which seems so old right now...

Due to last Palm politics, do you think will release updates for that models?

Wil you be willing to pay a fee to Palm if they release an OS update? How much will you pay??

The TC is the only unit on your list that is still being sold by Palm. I somehow doubt that either Palm or PalmSource will offer software updates for discontinued models.

Not a cat in hell's chance. Forget it! I mean, its not clear whether they are going to try to patch their 'high end' machine (Lifedrive) let alone worry about devices that are three years out of date (but better in many ways!!).

Dont hold your breath......

I would think that discontinued means, not being sold, and no more updates, etc.

I'd have to agree with the consensus opinion here. Palm won't waste any resources on patching/updating old devices (even though in my opinion such things weigh heavily on my decision to purchase from a company again). I'd even be willing to pay for an upgrade if it offered enough. (Remember the rumors about Cobalt possibly being made available for the T3 (and maybe T|C)? Ahhh, good times. Now we have rumors on if/when bug fixes will be out.)

PalmOS versions is a misnomer; Each 'version' of PalmOS is custom tweaked specifically for that particular PDA.

This is not like the old days where you could upgrade the OS - Back then it was a standard thing, but now there are so many half-assed hacks, patches, tweaks and kludges to the system for each PDA that it's nigh-impossible to make a universal upgrade.

This is one aspect of the Clie line that I wish Palm hadn't copied...

IMHO not..
If PalmSource says Unlikely themselves, this means as much as damn impossible!

Frankly, I don't see much difference from a user standpoint between 5.4 and 5.2, except maybe for the one-handed-navigation thing. Actually, I am quite happy with 5.0 on my NX70.

the latest update was the 3.0 that came around mid 2004. if you were to ask me this question - I would say NO - There will be no update no more...

The last free one was 3.3 IMHO..
Then the stock authorities banned Palm from releasing OS 3.5 for free(if I remember correctly), OS4 also was a paid upgrade and that actually was it more-less.
Then, there still was a buggy update for the m505 that was offered only a few weeks because of mayor bugs. everything after didnt elevate the ROM version!
