Am trying to make backgrounds/wallpapers for the Tungsten/TX but am not sure about the sizes

Should they be 480 by 480?

Or 320 by 480 and 480 by 320 such that when the user changes from potrait to landscape the wallpaper changes too?

Shoud they be 320 by 450 to account for the status bar on the bottom and the top?

Thanks

I'd to 480x480, for Landscape and Potrait :D

but then when you switch from portrait to landscape, can you still control which part of the image is displayed?

Think it shows the middle of the image outward...

I use a T5 and all my images are in the 320 X 480 mode. Even when I go to landscape mode my image pretty much stays the same; I don't do two different images sizes at all. The Palm Tx is pretty much close to the T5s screen.

Hey tj8212, Don't quote me on this but on my T3 I belive it always reads from the top left corner. I maybe wrong, but I think in portrait modethe far right 160 pixels are cut off, and in landscape mode the bottem 160 pixels are cut off.

Either way you deffinately want to start with a 480 X 480 canvas. Make up a test version, load it and have a look before you spend to much time designing it.

Post the pics when your done, I'd love to see them!

You are right Arc Light. The T3, T5, LD, and Tx all use the top left corner as a base starting point and only show the portion of the image that Palm_David showed. It is a real shame that the palm cannot either resize the basic image OR have an image for each orientation. This is extremely annoying in something like Zlauncher will many times the layout of the Theme and Background work together and depend on elements being in certain places. There is a web site that creates Agenda view backgrounds for the T3 and TE (for F3T3AgendaBG) that actually shows you what parts of the image will be visable in portrait and landscape mode.

And remember that with the status bar and the white borders you really only need 450-460 or so pixels, not 480 pixels. I usually take background images and resize them to 480x480. If you leave it 320x480 the device will tile the pic in the extra 160 pixel area which usually will look bad, depending on your chosen background.
