Hi there,

So far, I identified problems with the following apps on the TX. They ran fine in my T3.

* Backupman: crashes during the backup
* Uninstall Manager: random crashes, difficult for me to identify. I had to reinstall each app one by one http://www.1src.com/forums/images/smilie/images/smilies/eek.gif
* Zlauncher: already reported on this forum
* Card Export II: SD card doesn't seem to mount on the desktop

Any other?

Good thing I don't use any of those apps ;) Thanks for reporting these problems.

YMMV. Since I hard-resetted the TX and remove Uninstall Manager, Backupman seems to work just finehttp://www.1src.com/forums/images/smilie/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif.

I'll have to check again TomTom 5.12. The TX was resetting once in a while when TT5 was running.http://www.1src.com/forums/images/smilie/images/smilies/frown.gif

What crash message did you get on BackupMan and what version were you using? Was there an app still in Uninstall Manager's sandbox or could there have been another third party app, such as TextPlus (causes problems with backups on NVFS devices due to open databases), involved?

My only problem app has been Fitaly.

Backupman: none, just a reset
Uninstall Manager: no app in Sandbox
Apparently PXAClocker causes problems too.

I'm desperate now. Looks like all the apps I install are causing problems for the moment. Weird as the TX ran fine for 1 day (I got it Saturday evening and it was OK on Sunday).http://www.1src.com/forums/images/smilie/images/smilies/mad.gif

After my ZLauncher fiasco I decided to hold off on the use of any unnecessary system extensions or bloated resource hogs for the moment. Hopefully developers will be able to track bugs and fix them, but I'm not interested in another hard reset. Even the built in launcher will do for now!

The only problem I've had is the ZLauncher thing. The rest of my software I just looked for the updates and they run fine. I highly recommend Resco Explorer if you've grown fustrated with the ZL icon bug and have gone back to the Palm launcher but need a good file system app.

Any other?I can confirm that Card Export II does not mount on a PC running Windows 2000.

UnInstallManager seems to be working ok.

Launcher X works fine. Don't use Launcher Z

Z

I contaced Softick (maker of Card Export) and they replied that they have not yet tested Card Export II on the TX. However, from what I understand they plan to make a compatible version (though there's no timing information given).

Cheers.

I don't know if UnInstallManager is a problem or not, but I'm getting the following :

Start Blazer and log on after turning on Wi-Fi, exit Blazer, open versaMail, check email, exit VersaMail, Start AgendusPro and check mail with Agendus Mail SSL, Exit, tap tray W-Fi icon and turn off Wi-Fi, Then start Blazer again, screen goes blank and the TX does a HARD RESET wiping out system memory.

This is very repeatable. Doing a HotSync works off and on as does a restore from SD Card. I find ConnectionMgr50DB.PDB causes an error during a HotSync restore because on already exists according the error message in the HotSync Log. So I delete it and the hotsync works without an error..... but sometimes that doesn't work. This problem makes HotSyncing and SD Card restores work about 50% of the time.

The woes of being leading-edge, I guess http://www.1src.com/forums/images/smilie/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif . Sorry I can't confirm your bug, I don't have the Agendus programs.

The hard time with this kind of problem is to determine who's the culprit? PalmOS, the Palm extensions, some 3rd party application, ...

Since Agendus was used just prior to Blazer crashing, might it play a part? I don't use it but think I have seen it mentioned more frequently on various forums since the TX was released.

After many hardresets, I think I can point my problems to 2 apps: Uninstall Manager and PXAClocker. Since I removed them, the TX seems stable (too early yet to be 100% sure).

Backupman still crashes sometimes during the backup. http://www.1src.com/forums/images/smilie/images/smilies/frown.gif

TomTom 5.12 seems to work fine now. No more crashes in a 1-hour trip (before it was crashing every few minutes).

I uninstalled UnInstallManager and still had problems. Still had problems without running Agendus. It looks like the problem is Blazer and I think it's related to turning off Wi-Fi after the first session and then trying to run Blazer again. I'm wondering if DBCache would help. Does anyone know where I can get the latest version of DBCache?

I'm beginning to think that MySkin and or IconFix may be the problem. With them disabled, I don't have the same problem of Blazer crashing (hard reset).

I'm using Backupman with no problems. Also using SplashMoney and SplashId with no trouble.

I would assume and system level apps may be a problem but apps like DateBK5 and SplashID would run just fine.

Try Reso Locker (it's free) and lock uninstall manager and see if the problem goes away.

Are you running ClipPro? The reason I ask is that my rest problems were only partially fixed by deleting MySkin and IconFix. It appears that ClipPro may also be a problem, which is interesting since it also gave me problems on my T5 IF I had ClipPro tools enabled.

If you are going to use ClipPro you have to use Resco Locker to lock it in RAM. I've been running it that way on the T|X since I get it with no problems. and prior to that for months on my T5. Without locking itl clippro is a constant source of soft resets....

I just finished testing things after removing ClipPro.... and adding back MySkin, Grayhide and IconFix.... Blazer is working fine everytime without crashing.
Where's a good place to find Resco Locker?
Thanks again!

I found it and installed it.... Seems to do the trick.... Thanks!

You can find most if not all of Resco's products at PalmGear. Also screenshots v2.3 doesn't work. Bummer since I was making a new DIA to match the TX color.

I have performed just one backup with BackupMan's latest version (1.54) without problem. I will do another one now to see what happens...

And can't finish the backup, as I noticed I need to recharge the T|X... oh well..

Dear Snark & Zano

I have used IconFix & SkinDIA/MySkin on my T3. I recall that they conflict as both deal w/color issues & what is in a given skin. I deleted IconFix & all was fine on T3 & now I am using a TX.

I've got MySkin with the Grayhide skin and IconFix running nicely on my TX. I haven't installed the "FixedStatusBarResources.prc" from from the SharkTXFix package, but I am using SharkTXFix.prc, which gives "Home" function to the Find tray icon. I'm chicken..... I'm waiting for someone else to be the first...... actually, for some reason I haven't used Find much in the past, so why do I want both a home icon and a find icon?

SharkTXFix is a great fix to a huge Palm blunder in eliminating the Home icon.

Zano & all,

I goofed, it was an old version, not hi-res, so please forgive my lapse.

Has anyone gotten Font Smoother to work? It shows up in YAHM for me, but will not allow me to enable it.

Boy, so far the upgrade from my T3 to my T|X has been BY FAR the worst experience I've had in upgrading/installing. I simply cannot get hotsyncing via USB to work. It crashes Windows (hard crash, BSOD and everything) every single time.

You can find most if not all of Resco's products at PalmGear. So I did. I gave RescoBackup a try and liked it, so I bought it (and RescoExplorer [both seem superior]). For some reason I had a hard crash of the TX after doing a backup..... so I tried RescoBackup for a restore, which is the true test of a backup app..... It restored flawlessly.

Wild Celt & all,

you should look into Resco's Lock, it has made things a lot easier for my T3-TX upgrade.

It allows me to do things like put Fonts4OS5 into the command bar without causing all sorts of crashes & problems. It locks memory for NVFS machines & works like network server software that isolates an area of RAM in which it will work safely - hopefully so!

It also allowed me to survive spontaneous resets that used to cause all sorts of probs w/ZLauncher - even the latest 5.31. BTW, I found that restoring fm backup the zlauncher.db file & category files to make ZL act nicely.

Thanks for those in this forum that recommended this Resco freebie that is priceless.

BTW, on another topic, Wild Celt, you should avoid restoring cache files & stuff like that i.e. zl's delted file list .pdb. They seem to be machine status specific & apparently when restored into another setting.. dum dum,dum dum, CRASH.

BTW, has anybody seen an actual error msg on TX? I only get black screen of death.

All the best,

WildCelt

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, Resco Lockup didn't help me.

I am definitely starting from scratch on this one as well. Zlauncher so far is acting nice, but from what I have been reading it won't last long...

I am also having problems with NetChaser. It opens, but simly doesn't work. Anyone else?

I have replicated a few times what might be a bug in UniCMD: opening a JPG form my SD card, then closing it, causes either a crash or a soft reset.

Anyone else have had this happen?
