My new T|X is sitting on my desk charging, and I noticed the color of it. I was expecting it to be black, based on what others have said. But to me it looks very, very dark blue. I have the flip cover that Palm sends with it, and that is very black, and the T|X is lighter colored than that. Any comments?
:D

I mentioned the same thing in an earlier thread:

This might be the first TX "bug".... next time the sun shines around here, I'll run outside with my TX and take a look..... maybe take my Olympus C-7000 digital camera with me and take some shots. It's all in the illuminating light...... if Palm wanted it midnight blue, they may have goofed...... at midnight it's usually black... LOL It's so close to BLACK, that it appears to be the intent and they may have missed by a tiny tiny bit......

What is the flip cover like? Could you please post pictures? Thanks!Black stitched leather, plane, thick, but not too thick, covers the face of the unit and folds behind the unit. Real black. Seeing the case and the cover together does make the case appear a little bluish, but the case is more reflective that the cover, which is not reflective at all.

Had a similar thing back in the IIIc days. The box looked black, but inm the sun you saw a tiny bit of blue! Btw, since I havent seen a TX yet, cant really comment. But isnt color always dependant of ambient light;)?

Sun light is the best way to judge color. Incandescent light is usually closer to sun light than flourescent light, which is usually more blue.

I had my TX in direct sunlight this morning, up against the TV's remote control (which is definitely a matte black plastic). It still looked metallic dark blue to me. If I can find where DH put the camera card, I'll take a pic.
BTW-- the screen holds up nicely in the sun -- much better than my Treo or any of the Palms, IIRCC.

Wish it was black. It would have looked a lot more professional :)

I just saw my TX in a new light (all incandescent). It appeared to be some weird dark Navy Blue. Some might call it Midnight Blue. It does have a nice matte finish.

To me it looks very dark but I yet have to see in daylight. Anyway it looks very slick and professional.
Cheers.

I knew you'd eventually see the light! (pun intended)
I like the dark blue. It reminds me of one of the Cliés, I think the T615 came in a dark blue "limited edition" in Japan. The T665 came in a really cool burnt orange. I wanted them both.

I would have rathered it to be black or clearly a shade of blue. It looks like a mistake to me.

Why would you make it a weird color that only looks like black. It is half-a**ed like all Palm's doings ;)

I couldn't agree more. I saw the TX today. It is one ugly son of a b*tch. And the screen is still as ugly as usual.
The TX looks so bad. They wanted to make a cheap PDA, but why make it look cheap? The T5 was gorgeous in comparison. At least, make it a real black. It feels so cheap now.
I just can't believe how crappy Palm hardware is. It's like they are showing us the door to buy a PPC device.
The PDA world is so sad without Sony. Soooo sad.

The T5 may look like it has a metal case, but it's PLASTIC. That is a real fraud.
Hey, this gives me an idea...... take the guts out of the TX and put them in the T5 case.....
How about neon black? :D

You're gonna run to Pocket PC because of the color shade? Gimme a break!

Sony people seem to take every chance to run Palms into the ground about anything that might be a flaw..... it might have something to do with their lack of "attention" from Sony..... The TX could be ALMOST any color for the $269 I paid for it....
Palm will likely change OS in the future and keep on making PDAs...... Sony just gives up......

I personally like the color. I'm not sure why something has to be black to look professional. It's a tool, it works, and it has a great price point. I was personally AMAZED that anyone could make a PDA with as much packed into it as this one and sell it for $299. For years I've been reading these forums and heard "we want a PDA with virtual grafitti, more memory, wifi, and bluetooth - and oh, how about doing it at a great price." Well the Palm people actually pulled it off and people are griping about the color! This is the PDA I've been waiting for.

Palm did a great job, even with the 2 flaws it has (color and lack of home icon) There is already a 3rd party patch for the home icon and it ain't pink. So I'm happy. The additional user memory is GREAT and Wi-Fi is nice (alot nicer than TC or even LD Wi-Fi).:D

I was actually amazed at how easy the wi-fi was. I had read so many threads over the years with people having problem getting wi-fi cards and pda's working. The TX virtually does everything for you. My 9 year old could have gotten the wi-fi connected.

I guess it's to try and not make users deviate or loose focus from the true benefits and features of items.
i can not agree with our forgotten clie-users here. I hat concerns about the plastic frame, too. But it looks not as cheap as expected and has a cold feeling in the palm of your hand. Nearly every cellphone is plastic, same the iPODs and all the PPC-stuff, we will live with a plastic palm! Did you think about the radio reception in the T|X, maybe a metalcase was bad for signal strenght, i don´t know?

my words! The Clie-Howling around here remembers me at the screenwhinig of my T3 ;)
