I was fretting over if the iPod could even be considered a gizmo anymore earlier today. The conclusion that I reached was that I should let someone else have the honor of posting the thread about the video iPod ;).

People won't buy it becuase of the movies. It only has a 2-3 hour battery life :(

Who cares, as Zack stated, charge it. :p It comes in black and plays music for 20+ hours. When my iPod breaks, I'm getting one. Finally a truly easy way of encodeing and getting video onto a portable device. If anything, at least the iPod has the storage to accomadate video. I'll be happy with a 30 Gig, well I think. :)
Video Pod casting is probably going to be huge!!!

Yeah, breaks. Are you going to "drop" it down the stairs :D :p :)

If you bought the extended warranty plan, then you could conveniently drop it after the new iPod comes out and the store you bought your iPod from runs out of the old ones. They will have to replace it with a new one with the same or greater capacity. Pretty easy...

Sounds like a good plan. Who says the extended warranty is a scam? :D

I'm cool with my 2GB & 1 GB FLASH!!!! MEMORY :) No spinning disks :). Also don't want to shell out 300 for a iPod with 2hrs video playback. My UX might not get that much time but yet my device won't die as quick due to no moving parts are involved.

I wouldn't mind the UX's screen for playback, but a moving disk isn't an issue at all, works great with my current iPod. :) Its biggest bonus being storage space. 30 gigs, plus an iPod with a color screen for the price of 3 Gigs of your sticks. Well, for that price I can easily tolerate 2-3 hours of playback on a smaller screen, via a vastly better video codec; H.264. And of course Apple's know how when it comes to software and users. :) But music first, video later, so at this time I have no need to upgrade.
I traded some work for my iPod, so I have no warranty. :) Speaking of warranties, my 4 year warranty hasn't expired for my Clié yet, so maybe it will die before it ends, so I can then trade it in for one of these new TX thingies. :) My warranty is with GoodGuys, so I'm not sure what's going to happen since CompUSA just acquired them.

*Grumbles* So, now that the iPod supports video, new users will have to suffer through slower transfer rates, to get their larger than music videos onto it. Not including FireWire connectivity is asinine IMO, but then again, Intel and Apple are pretty chumy right now, and Intel does like their USB!!! Well, it will be their boards and their chips, so I guess that entails their connection.
