Guys,

Has anybody here seen the TX in action? I am hoping that it will have the new TE2 screen, with much better color saturation. On some pictures, it looks like it is the same kinda ugly screen that the LD uses. (i.e. no greens again. sigh...)

If anybody has actually compared the screens, please let me know how good (or bad) it is. If the screen is like the LD, then I might have to pass on this thing. But the TE2 screen is quite nice, at least for a PDA. A 480x320 version of this screen would be quite nice.

I'm getting ready to be majorly disapointed on this.

They say the TX's display is like that of LD..
while Treo 650's is brighter than the E2's, but not as good in terms of color saturation and clarity.

Overall, E2's display is the BEST palm display ever, if not for the small size (320*320).

Hope this helps

I bought a T5 back in February and my sister asked for advice on a palm pda and I recommended the E2. The thing is, everyone swears on the E2 screen but it in fact the colors are off and it isnt nearly as bright and colorful as my T5. That was the first thing I noticed right off the bat. Did they come out with like different manufacturers for the T5 and E2?

Woah there! The E2's display is MUCH MUCH brighter than the T5's. There is just no comparison whatsoever. It is also MUCH crisper, comparable to the old Sony screens, although much brighter.

Still, the colors are still way off. The sony screens had near perfect color rendition and great contrast, while the E2's screen still lacks green. The colors on the E2 are also a little oversaturated, although this looks good in direct sunlight.

If you want to carry pictures on a Palm device, just add some green on a photo editing software, and the pics will looks almost perfect. Did it, and it works flawlessly. Just use a patch processing software, and it shouldn't be too hard. Or chase an old sony screen. Still trying to grab one myself.

Well, how much green should one add?

And is the E2's display at least comparable to that of Sony Ericsson P910? or Nokia 6600 for instance?

And since you're talking about Sony's displays, is there any Palm-powered Sony handheld that's quite good? I mean I may consider it if it's ok.

The VZ90 is simply the best out of the Sony crop of handhelds. Having both a TH and TX, I say the TH is better display. I used to own others, but forgot how the other displays were for the NX, NZ and UX.

Edit: Here is an old comparison shot of the sony/palm/tapwave screens.

No comparison, I checked hers out today compared to mine. My screen is much better than hers in terms of brightness and being crisper.

**EDIT**

I'm about to crack open my pda and checkout the manufacturer of the LCD.

This is very peculiar, as I went to a store today to compare teh T5 and E2, and the E2 is much, much brighter, and much crisper than the T5's screen. The T4 has a terrible bluish tint too. The E2's whites are slightly yellow, which looks far better. Color saturation on the E2 is far better than the T5, no match there.

Remember that the E2 is advertized on the Palm site as having a brighter and sharper screen. Your units sound very peculiar. They might have different screens, who knows? But by and large, the E2's screen is the new generation screen, which is only 320x320 at this point.

They all suck next to the old Sony screens anyway.
