View Full Version : MyTG50's CD has full version DocsToGo 5.0 Standard Ed
Im really curious why many here in this forum say that their TG50 did not come with Documents to Go. Hey folks, check in the accompanying CD, it's there, but you have to install it thru intellisync first. My TG50 came with a CD that has a full version of Documents to Go 5.0 Standard Edition (for MS Word and Excel) which really complements the Picsel Viewer. Maybe you should opt for an exchange of your CD.

I just searched my disc, and I don't see it anywhere. How did you install it through Intellisync?

Maybe Picasosz doesn't care for junior members, either, but
I'm grateful for Tina's post.
Since I read that, I came across another user who says the
same thing: See the CNET review of the TG50; one of the
users (not Tina) reports the same thing.
Let me echo rlc7254's question: I can't find it on my disk,
either. How did you install it? Can you find it in the
directory structure of the CD?
Many thanks.

Don't you think that if it was included it would be listed on the sony site?

When I was looking at the demo model of the TG50 at the Sony Store, it had Docs to Go installed on it.
I asked the salesperson about it, and he said he installed it himself from the CD that came with it.
He also verified that it came on the CD.
There are two possible explanations for this:
1. He installed Docs to Go from a different CD (ie: the NR70 CD)
2. The Canadian stores here either received a different first shipment, or are receiving a different version altogether from the US stores.
I haven't verified it myself, but I plan to buy a TG50 from the very same store in the near future.

I can see that after 500+ posts, you haven't learned to act like a human being.
Shame on you. Your denegration and cursing ruins any vestige of credibility you may have ever had. I'm more likely to believe Tina than you.

I bought the TG50 and my CD also had the program as well. I installed it the way I installed the rest of the programs, by choosing it on the list when the CD loads up.

Interesting, some have it some don't.
Maybe it was an unannounced random promotion. Random CD's got shipped with Docs to go. ???
Anyway, its just a guess.

So, does anybody have any idea how to go about getting DTG
as a free thing with my TG50--
I am one of the many whose CD didn't include it.

Could you post the version number on your disk, as well as the part number (at the bottom, near the copyright notice). It would interesting for those of us that don't have it to compare it with that information on ours.

I think an email to Sony is in order. I haven't bought my TG50 yet, but when I do I want to make sure it has Docs to Go.

Bawhahaha!
If I remember correctly, Documents to Go has been bundled with all Clie's since the N710. I know too that my NX CD has Documents to Go too. I don't see why Sony would suddently leave it out.
Cool down people.

Just filled out an email form at Sony, asking what is the real deal on this whole Docs to Go thing. Here's the direct URL for others who also want to send a note of inquiry. You'll need your serial number. Also, the TG50 is not on the drop-down list of models. I picked whatever, then wrote TG50 with purchase date in the large text area.

Thx TreoRenegade
So that confirms that by comparing the NX CD with the TG50 CD, that there are two kinds of TG50 CD's around: one with Docs To Go, another with nothing.
Strange.

I'm not sure I get your logic; how does comparing an NX CD with a TG50 CD confirm that there are two TG50 CD's around?
Anyhoo, how many people out there have D2G on the TG50 CD? One? It would be interesting to see if people getting TG50's in the next few days get this extra program. I got one of the first TG50's released (first day), and mine didn't include D2G. Not that I care, Wordsmith is my fav, but still...

I just exchanged my TG50 at Best Buy for another one. I had a sticking key on it, and they gladly exchanged it. But the new disc with it DID NOT come with Docs to Go of any version.
Is this getting to be an urban myth????

rlc7254,
Even you got your TG50 replace now, doesn't necessary mean day are giving you a fresh 2nd delievery from sony....They might have stock quite a number, before they need another shipment...

now datavis took it off their site here (http://www.dataviz.com/products/documentstogo/dxtg_hhbundle.html). the TG50 used to be listed right under the sj33... although this page (http://www.dataviz.com/products/documentstogo/bundle/dxtg_welcome.html?hh=peg-tg50&model=sony&version=5#) is still up. curious.

There are some differences in the two units. The first one I had was rather smooth and polished, it could (and did) slip out of my hands. The new one I have has more of a rough texture to it, not like an NX70, but most definitely not as slippery.

Your new TG has a different texture? How long did you have the old one? Is it possible that your old one was worn down a bit?

The first one I had for 2 1/2 weeks. Got it the first day it went on sale at BB. I like the speed of the 200mhz processors, but the NZ/NX series are just too big for me. That is why I went with the TG. The case on the first one was a very smooth finished metal (I assume aluminum), and was just as smooth as the flip cover outside. It was also shiny. That was the only negative I had about it, it was so smooth that it could slip out of my hand if I wasn't careful. This new one has a different feel to the case, if you run your fingers over it, there is a slight roughness to it, similar to the NX70, but not as gritty. It is also slighty duller in apperance, especially if you compare it to the front cover. It doesn't slip around in my hand as much either. The flip cover is the same smooth metal as the old one. It is very noticeable if I run my fingers over the front, then over the back. I don't think of this as a design change, maybe a different supplier of material, who knows. I do like the feel of the second one better than the first.
