Hi

I recently bought a cool new SJ33 and now I want to add some memory to listen to mp3s.

But all the SONY MemorySticks I looked at in the local stores (in Sri Lanka) says this memorystick is "not" compatible with MagicGate memorystick. In my SJ33 device's rare side there is a memorystick sign but underneath it says "MagicGate"

Since the package is sealed I couldn't check these with the device without buying it. Even the vendors are clueless about this.

What should I do. How would I know whether these so called memorysticks (The same colour thing like this forum background) will work with SJ33 MagicGate slot?

Will those be compatible? Please help...

The blue/violet memory sticks are compatible. Get the best deal and go buy them now. :)

But in the package it says "NOT" compatible with MagicGate what
does it mean? My CLIE is says MagicGate

I am confused. Why SONY is bringing up so many variations of their stuff messing with the customers.

I love their gadgets sleek and functional second to none but too many variaties normal person like me can't really figure it out which is what

And one more thing what is the max capacity I could only find 128 here in Sri Lanka though

MagicGate is a version of the memory stick that allows ATRAC music to be stored/played. The ATRAC format is a format that required checking in/out your music and is not to be confused with regular MP3. Besideds the ATRAC feature the MagicGate sticks are identical to the blue/purple regular sticks. Both hold data, program and MP3 music.

The package is saying that the memory stick is not a MagicGate or compatible with a device that requires MagicGate memory sticks.

Your SJ33 is saying that it can use MagicGate memory sticks - it will also use the reular blue/purple memory sticks as well.
